00:00We're launching the appeal this year on October the 28th so people can donate gifts for children
00:06aged between naught and 16, new unwrapped gifts that we can give out. Last year we helped over
00:121200 children so this year we're aiming to be bigger and better and let's help lots and lots
00:17of families. Again this year we're doing it slightly different, we'd like people to be
00:22more inventive so everybody can get on board and collect gifts in their places of work,
00:26schools, organisations. If you just get in touch with us at Burnley Together we can send you out
00:32all the information you need, we'll come and collect the gifts for you and then we can get
00:36them out to the families that need them the most. Every year for a number of years now
00:42we launch our Christmas Toy Appeal. It's actually our head office initiative but we have the freedom
00:48to choose a local charity that we would like to support and in our case it's Burnley Together
00:54who we've been supporting for a number of years now.
00:58So the idea is simple, we encourage our customers, our colleagues to donate
01:04toys that would go towards helping people who are less unfortunate, children who wouldn't
01:12otherwise have a Christmas as such and we aim to make sure that all our local children
01:19are able to open a Christmas present on Christmas day. There will be collection
01:24points all the way around Burnley and Paddyham, there will be in Tesco and also at Asda and at
01:30downtown ourselves in the town centre but any schools, organisations, services who would love
01:35to collect toys as a group of people would be amazing. You can be as inventive as you like
01:42sending your photos of how you're going to collect toys if you just get in touch with Burnley
01:46Together we can send you out all the necessary details. We've made a donation like we do every
01:52year and it's just the start of it we're hoping obviously there will be more toys available
01:58to donate before obviously Christmas time so yeah these toys have actually come from our head office
02:07to help us kick start the appeal. Last year we helped 1200 children open gifts on Christmas
02:13morning and that was phenomenal, let's see if Burnley and Paddyham together can make even
02:18Christmas even better this year. Buddy the elf has actually done a sneaky one, he's escaped
02:24the workshop without Santa spotting him. Papa elf is actually standing in for Buddy
02:33so I should be all right but I do need to get back to the workshop ASAP.
