Israel's retaliatory offensive has killed over 42,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza's Health Ministry, which does not say how many were combatants but says women and children make up more than half the fatalities.

00:06at least 17 people, nearly all of whom were women and children, according to Palestinian

00:14Amongst the dead were 13 children under the age of 18 and three women, hospital records

00:22The Israeli military said it targeted Hamas militants inside the school without providing
00:27evidence.
00:30Israel has carried out several strikes on schools turned shelters in recent months,
00:34saying it precisely targets militants hiding out amongst civilians.
00:39These strikes often kill women and children.
00:44The strike came as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Israel had achieved its
00:49target of effectively dismantling Hamas and that negotiations over a ceasefire would resume
00:55in the coming days.
