00:00the Philippine National Police in the affected areas of Baguio-Christine.
00:06We will talk with Police Brigadier General Gene Fajardo,
00:11the Chief PIO and spokesperson of PNP. Good afternoon.
00:16Good afternoon, ma'am.
00:18What is the directive of the Philippine National Police
00:22in these times of calamity, such as the typhoon?
00:26Before the typhoon hit the affected areas,
00:32our Chief PNP, Police General Romela Francisco Martil,
00:37gave the order to deploy our PNP personnel.
00:41As of now, we have deployed around 6,700-plus
00:46in the affected areas.
00:48We also have 11,200-plus reserve standby forces
00:54that are readily deployable as required.
00:59Ma'am, how is the monitoring and assessment of PNP
01:04in the aftermath of the typhoon Christine?
01:07As of now, we are continuously monitoring
01:12even though we are deferring the official figures
01:16that we sent to NDRRNC.
01:19According to PNP, we have reported more than 31 deaths.
01:27We have 27 injured and 10 missing,
01:31even though they are still under validation
01:34once confirmed by OCT.
01:37But just the same, these figures are subject for validation.
01:42How is the deployment of our police personnel
01:47in the affected areas?
01:49You mentioned earlier that we have deployed thousands.
01:52What is their assessment in these areas?
01:56As of now, you are correct ma'am.
01:59Our PNP personnel have been deployed.
02:01Earlier, before 11 a.m.,
02:04the contingent of the Police Regional Office 8
02:09was already on their way.
02:10They were already on their way to MV Don Antonio
02:13to Matnog Port in the province of Sungsugon.
02:18We have more than 100 plus PNP personnel,
02:22including the contingent of BFP, AFP, OCT and Orboca LGU.
02:29They also have assets, including PNP bus, manned truck,
02:35coasters and BFP trucks.
02:38This will help, particularly in the Bicol region,
02:44to make sure that they have enough PNP personnel
02:49and relevant agencies.
02:51Our chief PNP, as soon as the weather permits
02:56and the weather gets better,
02:58our three PNP choppers will be utilized
03:03for search, rescue and relief operations.
03:06Ma'am, according to your own records,
03:08how many were injured because of the typhoon?
03:12According to the PNP records,
03:14subject for validation,
03:1731 were reported dead,
03:2027 were injured,
03:22and 10 were missing.
03:25This was submitted to local MVRNC for validation.
03:31Ma'am, as mentioned earlier,
03:34there are additional members of the Philippine National Police
03:38who went to Bicol for rescue operations.
03:42How was their deployment and rescue operations?
03:47At around 11 p.m., before dusk,
03:51they were already on the MV Don Antonio
03:54and headed to Matnog Port in the province of Sungsugon.
03:58As for the contingent of Calabang Son,
04:01they were just a bit worried
04:03because the roads in Lopez Quezon are not yet passable.
04:08If they are safe,
04:10they will also help the provinces.
04:14We know that the affected areas are wide.
04:18Even here in Metro Manila,
04:20we are conducting humanitarian assistance
04:24and disaster response,
04:26including in Central Luzon and North Luzon.
04:29Lastly ma'am, we would like to ask for your message
04:32to our countrymen.
04:33How about the police personnel who were deployed,
04:37but their families may also be affected by the typhoon?
04:40That's right ma'am.
04:42According to our records,
04:43there are around 1,012 PNP personnel who were affected.
04:47We are also concerned about that.
04:50Most of them are in Region 5.
04:53According to our chief PNP,
04:55the families of our affected PNP personnel should be concerned
04:59so that they will not worry about their families
05:02while they are responding to the needs of our countrymen.
05:07On the part of the PNP ma'am,
05:09as a response to the order of our former President,
05:13all personnel are required to exert efforts
05:19to render humanitarian assistance,
05:21particularly to the affected areas.
05:23Also ma'am, our mobility assets are ready for deployment
05:28as the need arises.
05:30Okay. Thank you very much for your time.
05:32Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo
05:34of the Philippine National Police.
05:36Thank you very much ma'am.
