00:00Hello! How y'all doing? I said, how are you doing? Okay, now if I'm gonna be the host we
00:14gotta, y'all gotta keep up now. Y'all gotta keep up. First of all, let me thank
00:18Variety for having me to host tonight. Thank you so much. Okay, so now I'm
00:25looking really classy, so I have to act like I have class tonight, but not so
00:33much. Okay, so it is an honor. I have to bend down a little bit because the
00:38teleprompters. Oh, they can raise them! Oh!
00:47Okay, we're here to celebrate so many important women. Writers, directors,
00:53producers, singers, executives, and just to celebrate women in Hollywood! Yes!
01:02Like, look at this country. This country needs a major shift, and I really think
01:09Kamala is gonna lead the way, right? So why not Hollywood? Let's start with
01:18Hollywood too, you know? Look at the Summer Olympics. We were, it was
01:23incredible, first of all, and it was led by women also. We, we, we, we killed in the
01:30basketball, soccer team, swim team, Katie Ledecky! And I was there looking amazing,
01:42and I love working in entertainment. I love it, and I hope to do a lot more, and
01:48I especially, first of all, I was just telling my hairstylist how much I love a
01:53room full of women. Yeah, there's nothing better than a room full of women, and I
01:59love working with women because not only do they see that I'm a comedic actress,
02:04they see that I can do drama too. You know, they don't look past that, and I
02:08love you guys tonight. Thank you. So for tonight, we have some incredible honorees
02:14for you. We have, keep going, I hope I look like I'm not reading, but I am. Have
02:25you not watched me on SNL? I am not good with quick cards. We also are gonna hear
02:31from Sarah Hyland, accepting the Variety Courage Award, presented by Perina. Julie
02:37Bowen, Julie Bowen is here to present the honor to her, and we've been
02:43waiting for the Modern Family reunion since they dropped it, that West, that, oh
02:48my god, the WhatsApp joke. It's a WhatsApp joke. When they dropped the
02:54WhatsApp ad, that's, that's what I was supposed to say.
03:01Classy. Bella Benjaria, please, I hope I said that right.
03:08Netflix chief content officer is the Power of Women honoree tonight. We were
03:15originally gonna give out one of these honors every Thursday for a few weeks,
03:19but she suggested that we binge them all tonight, so just like Emily in Paris and
03:25Bridgerton, we will be having a part two in a couple of weeks, so I'll see y'all
03:28back here in November. All right, that worked. Okay, we're, oh my god, this is the
03:34one that's gonna make me cry. We are here to honor Carol Burnett.
03:48Carol Burnett, okay, I've met Carol Burnett, I met her at my chiropractor's
03:53office, but you absolutely don't know what you have done for me. You, I watched
04:03you, your show, the Carol Burnett show was my life. It was my life. When she would
04:09come out and she would pull her ear and she just would be funny, she didn't
04:14matter what she looked like, it was just absolute, you know what I meant, right,
04:22Carol? I, I believe that the Carol Burnett show was one of the best sketch shows
04:30ever put on television, and I was on SNL, okay, but we didn't have no Harvey
04:38Corman or Tim Conway, for real, but I love you and you are one of the honorees
04:45tonight. I, you are the reason that I have huge curtains behind me, but I see that
04:50they didn't get them for me tonight. I asked for huge curtains, but that's okay.
04:55I loved your performance in Palm Royale this year, yes, you said less than ten
05:03words and Ricky Martin waited on you hand and foot, so were you method for
05:10that? Can I get some, can I get some advice? We're gonna hear from Zoe Zaldana.
05:19Everyone is talking about AI as a threat, but her movie Amelia Perez was
05:27actually developed using mad lips. It is a musical set in music, in Mexico, where
05:34she plays a lawyer helping a cartel boss retire and disappear by becoming the
05:40woman he always dreamed of being. Gloria Estefan, because I always wanted to be
05:47Gloria. Six-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams is also here. Yes, yes, night
05:57bitch, nice night bitch. That's gonna be good because I can relate. I've been a
06:03night bitch for a while now, you know, ain't never got no award for it, but now
06:09let's welcome to the stage two incredible women who helped make this
06:14event happen. Variety's co-editor-in-chief Cynthia
06:18Littleton and Variety's CEO and group publisher Michelle Sorbrino Stearns. I
06:25had to get that right.
