00:00Election night was a little muted for the Greens.
00:05It was a bit of a somber night on Saturday.
00:09But almost one long political week later, their numbers and their vibes are much improved.
00:16Four more years, let's go.
00:19Greens lost political territory to a brace of independents who will now sit on the crossbench.
00:25Four seats in the new assembly will be green, two less than the last term, but two more
00:29than they'd secured on Saturday.
00:31We've seen a swing of one percent against the Greens, which is much less than was predicted
00:36on election night.
00:37As with the last assembly, Labor and the Greens will need to work together to make the political
00:41sausage, but whether the Greens will sit in cabinet, ministries or on the crossbench is
00:46still being decided.
00:48No options are off the table at this point.
00:50Labor finished with ten seats and Andrew Barr is realistic about what's next.
00:54What I will endeavor to do is to have some form of understanding, particularly around
01:01supply and confidence, so that we can ensure stability of government in the next four years.
01:08The Greens surveyed its members this week on the non-negotiables to take into talks
01:13with Labor.
01:14This is an advisory process.
01:15At the end of the day, the parliamentarians have to take responsibility for the final
01:19decision.
01:20The party's greener outlook is thanks in no small part to the re-election of Laura Nuttall.
01:24The 24-year-old showing age is no barrier with her narrow win in Brindabella.
01:29Young people are here to stay in politics and absolutely we should have a seat at the
01:33decision-makers' table.
01:34On Friday, Ms Nuttall's lead over James Daniels was a few hundred votes, leaving the Liberals
01:39with nine seats.
01:40The result means Mick Gentleman failed to be re-elected after ten years in the ministry
01:45and 16 in the assembly overall.
01:47An election producing another Labor win, but a new look government.
