UE boosts Final Four bid

University of the East (UE) returned to its winning ways after clobbering National University (NU), 74-58, in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Oct.. 26, 2024. The Red Warriors improved to 6-3, winning six of their last seven games and solidifying their hold of the third spot in the standings. While UE's Final Four chances continue to increase, it's not so for the Bulldogs who fell to a league-worst 2-8 slate.

00:00So, what adjustments did you make during the week?
00:04Well, first of all, I'd like to thank the Lord for this victory.
00:10Actually, the two postponements of our game, there's a positive side and a negative side.
00:20Number one, negative because we're there, our players are last.
00:27But, positive because the guys that had injuries, we were able to recover.
00:37And then, we gave some units to the guys that didn't play much.
00:45Because, if you will see the schedule, it's going to be every three days that we play.
00:54So, we really want to extend my rotation.
00:58And our break, we maximize it so that our guys that don't play much can be confident during practice.
01:12Thank you, Coach Jack.
01:13To Precious, you have a double-double performance of 17.7 rebounds and yet 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and plus 10.
01:22So, what is your motivation for your team to bounce back from your previous loss against LaSalle?
01:28What is your motivation?
01:29I think the loss against LaSalle, the motivation that we need.
01:41Because, I think we deserve to win.
01:45So, we're going to be able to lose some and win some.
01:52So, today's game, we know what we are hoping for.
02:00I mean, it's our venue.
02:05I think we have a great team.
02:06I think we have a great team.
02:09I don't know if I agree or not.
02:12We just have to stick as a team and win it.
02:19To Wellory, at 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 assist.
02:23So, that's it.
02:25You lost your 5-game winning streak.
02:28So, what did you do during this long break to turn the winning ways of the team?
02:34What did you do?
02:35Please move closer to the mic.
02:36In practice, we're still working hard.
02:41We're still focusing on our standings.
02:44We're still playing.
02:47So, let's go.
02:49Let's focus on our 1v1.
