00:00The International Conference on Women, Peace and Security in the Philippines has started today

00:06where several government and intelligence agencies are expected to attend the so-called conference.

00:21The first International Conference on Women, Peace and Security will be held in the Philippines

00:26where almost 700 delegates are expected to be present

00:30made up of foreign ministers and members of the peacemaking organization

00:35here at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.

00:42The International Conference on Women, Peace and Security or ICWPS

00:47aims to institutionalize the Women, Peace and Security Agenda

00:51by giving a voice to the oppressed.

00:56For advancing women, peace and security.

01:06That's why ministers and international delegates from 84 countries will gather.

01:13Several government agencies, National Steering Committee on Women, Peace and Security

01:19will be the civil society organization, academia, barm, local government units and private sectors.

01:26For the activities later, there will be two ministral or high-level segments.

01:31First, they will discuss on enhancing partnerships between states to build a sustainable,

01:36gender-responsive peace and security.

01:40Then, they will discuss on implementing actionable women, peace and security strategies

01:45and other practical measures.

01:47After that, there will be a general discussion of international organizations and civil society organizations.

01:54The high-level segment will aim to create a platform for government stakeholders

01:59to study and evaluate the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda

02:04of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325.

02:08There will be a Manila Declaration at the end of the sessions.

02:16Noel, one of the expected resource speakers later is the Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo.

02:22The conference will last from today until Wednesday.
