00:00The Philippine National Shooting Association plans to end the year by hosting a big event that will last from November to December.
00:11Paolo Salamatin has the details.
00:17The Philippine National Shooting Association is sharing their plans to host the Southeast Asian Shooting Championship
00:25from November 24 to December 14 this year, where some events like practical shooting, sporting clays, bench rest, and Olympic shotgun events such as trap and skeet shooting will be held.
00:38More than 350 shooters from 8 countries will be expected to participate in the three-week competition.
00:47The Philippine team will be led by trap shooter Eric Ang and Olympian Jetro Dionisio.
00:54For the skeet event, Enrique Leandro Enriquez and Olympian Brian Rosario will compete.
01:01For the women's division, Valerie Levanza, Abby Cuyong, Amparo Acuna, and Franchette Quiroz will represent the country.
01:17It's the first time to host it but it's the first time that it's going to be like multi-event, biggest multi-shooting event that the Philippines is going to host for the year.
01:27When I say multi-shooting, this is not just Olympic shooting as you would know.
01:35So around about 8-9 countries, 8 countries. So we're pretty excited about it.
01:42According to Philippine National Shooting Association Secretary General Irene Garcia,
01:46the PNSA is hoping to show a strong performance to the shooters in the event,
01:52opposite to other countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
01:57As I was saying earlier, it's for us to gauge where we're at, you know, for Southeast Asian Games.
02:05So we're well-exposed and in fact we have broken a lot of new records.
02:11So in 1991, times are different.
02:17So even the shooters and the targets are different now, the rules are different. It's actually tougher now.
02:25Four shooting ranges will be used in the game that will be held in Batangas and Taguig City.
02:31Paulo Salamatin for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
