Labour has responded to Jeremy Hunt's accusations of "political intervention" by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR). The former chancellor accused the OBR of shielding the Labour Party from scrutiny as it prepares to announce tax hikes. Labour's Pat McFadden described the complaint as "absolutely ludicrous". "What you're seeing there is the sight of Tories being terrified of the independent verdict and the absolute mess that this government inherited", he added.

00:00I think it's completely ludicrous for Jeremy Hunt to be launching an attack on
00:05the Office for Budget Responsibility two days before the budget. What you're
00:10seeing there is the sight of Tories being terrified at an independent
00:15verdict on the absolute mess that this government inherited. He should face up
00:21to that inheritance rather than attacking the body that is going to
00:25pronounce its verdict.
