Kemi Badenoch has warned the Labour government are "doubling down" on mistakes made by her party in the past. Addressing the CBI conference in London on Monday, the Opposition leader said: "Today, we are all talking about the consequences of the Budget. We still do not know what the full consequences of the legislative programme will be."

00:00And I am worried because the Labour Party are not just repeating many of the mistakes which we made in government,
00:06they are doubling down on them and combining them with an unprecedented raid on business.
00:12Today, we are all talking about the consequences of the budget,
00:17but we do not yet know what the full consequences of their legislative programme will be,
00:23like their Employment Rights Bill, designed by trade unions.
00:27But there is no point in me just complaining about Labour when it was obvious that we Conservatives lost the confidence of business.
00:35I was not surprised at how many people attended Labour's prawn cocktail or smoked salmon offensive last year.
00:41I know it is because you thought that we didn't understand what your needs and concerns were.
00:47And you knew we were going to lose.
00:50So as a first step to fix that, I have made sure that the two people who are in the most business-facing roles in my Shadow Cabinet
00:57are people who have run companies themselves.
