00:00Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has left a huge blame on the country for the cut-off of the Christine storm,
00:07as the supply of electricity in a large part of the country was affected.
00:11Following this, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized that the number of affected individuals
00:17will not increase, especially in places under the state of calamity.
00:21So he ordered the Energy Regulatory Commission, or ERC, to study the implementation of temporary relief
00:28on the payment of electricity in places affected by the storm.
00:32In a statement, the President said to the ERC that the study of the implementation of the moratorium
00:37on the cut-off of electricity in places under the state of calamity from this month until December
00:43should also be carried out the staggered or gradual payment in the next few months if necessary.
00:49According to the Presidential Communications Office,
00:51this step by the government is still a part to help those affected by the calamity.
00:56The effort of the National Electrification Administration, or NEA,
01:00to restore the supply of electricity in places severely affected by the Christine storm continues.
01:05As a matter of fact, from the 2.1 million household connections affected in total,
01:09only 500,000 households are now trying to restore the supply of electricity.
01:15According to NEA, in Pangasinan, 168 out of 192 barangays already have electricity supply.
01:21In Batangas, 76.2%.
01:23In Naga, 76% have already been energized.
01:26In Iriga, only 54% have been restored and the manual shutdown is still being carried out in places that are still flooded.
01:34In Albay, 62% of the household connections have already been supplied with electricity,
01:38while 92% in Catanduanes.
01:41Normally, assessment will come in after full restoration.
01:47But we have initial data in these affected areas.
01:52It already runs more or less approximately at Php50 million and counting.
01:58Because it will be difficult to assess in places that are still flooded.
02:04But in any case, we will continue to help and increase the supply of additional manpower,
02:14additional boom trucks to fully help the affected areas restore electricity.
02:21As of now, 40 teams have been sent to Albay, NEA, to assist in the restoration efforts there,
02:27even though some places are still flooded.
02:30NEA assured that the critical service establishments such as hospitals, evacuation centers, ports, and others have power lines.
02:39Safety will be an issue here, not unless and until the water is gone,
02:43to make sure that the restoration of electricity is safe.
02:48That's the only thing that will be our priority.
02:51But rest assured that all distribution assets that will be used are already on standby.
