00:00A few days before the earthquake, the residents of Panacan Public Cemetery in Davao City still have a problem with the flood.

00:09The Economic Enterprises of Luzon decided to ask for help from other departments to give a solution to the problem with the flood there.

00:24Even though some parts of Panacan Public Cemetery in Davao City still remain submerged in the flood,

00:31most of the residents still continue to visit their loved ones.

00:35Like Pacifica Panuncia, who came here early in the morning to clean and light a candle in her daughter's grave.

00:44She admitted that she is worried every time she visits, especially when she needs to cross and jump in the graves that are submerged in the flood.

00:52And because of her age, she is worried that she might slip.

00:55That's why she is hoping that the cemetery will be rehabilitated.

01:00Because their situation has been like this for a long time.

01:12Meanwhile, this is Ernesto Basister.

01:15He has been wandering around Panacan Cemetery for a few hours to find his loved ones who were buried here in the 1980s.

01:24When they saw their loved ones' grave, they immediately cleaned and lit a candle.

01:30But they were not able to visit their grandparents' grave because it is adjacent to the graves that were flooded.

01:39Those who were buried here, they were shown in the office.

01:43They were asked to clean and light a candle.

01:47Maybe that's why they were buried here.

01:50According to the head of Davao City Economics Enterprises, Maximo Macalipis Jr.,

01:57because of the calls, they asked for help from other departments of the local government to solve the flood problem.

02:04The resolution was also implemented on September 24, 2024 that no one will be buried here

02:11in order to give way to the implementation of the solution to the flood problem

02:15while the rehabilitation of the cemetery is still being processed.

02:20In addition, the wireless cemetery will become a standard in the rehabilitation

02:25where the bodies will be compartmentalized.

02:28Then, we requested already a submersible pump with operators from our ancillary service office,

02:35the city engineer's office, and CDRMO to address the stagnant water of flooding

02:40because in the location, there is no expertise.

02:45Meanwhile, the former flood problem here in Ma'a Public Cemetery has been solved.

02:51For now, the ground will be dry and there will be no flood water.

02:55The flood victims were also cut off here,

02:58so the individuals who were killed here can now visit and light candles.

03:03If you remember, in the past, some of the visitors here were just lighting candles

03:09and praying in a big cross because they were not able to go to the place where they were killed

03:15because of the flood and the rising of the trees.

03:18Davao City Economic Enterprises also said that the rehabilitation of the cemetery is already being started.

03:25For now, they are continuing to make inventory of the people who were buried here

03:31that can be placed in an osuary or if the family wants to cremate them.
