What did the Chancellor announce?

00:00Chancellor Rachel Reeves's autumn budget has been announced. As part of the budget
00:04it was announced that the NHS will receive £22.6 billion in funding. This is
00:09hoped to reduce NHS waiting lists to no longer than 18 weeks. Fuel duty is also
00:15set to be frozen this year and next, with the existing 5p cut maintained.
00:19Chancellor Rachel Reeves also announced that, as part of the budget, taxes are to
00:24be raised by £40 billion. The majority of this tax is set to come from
00:29increased national insurance contributions for employers. The budget
00:33for compensating those affected by the infected blood scandal is £11.8 billion.
00:38The budget for compensating those affected by the Post Office
00:42Horizon scandal is £1.8 billion. The national living wage is also set to be
00:48increased to £12.21 an hour for those over 21. Employees aged 18 to 20 and
00:55apprentices will also see their minimum hourly pay increase.
