00:00So importers will now have to pay additional duties of up to 35.3 percent.
00:05Now that's on top of the existing standard EU car import tariff of 10 percent.
00:12These extra duties range from 7.8 percent on Tesla vehicles to 17 percent for BYD
00:20and 35.3 percent for SAIC which makes the MG brand.
00:26In the fourth quarter of last year Tesla cars accounted for more than
00:2940 percent of all EV imports into the EU from China.
00:35Chinese brands accounted for 34 percent while cars made in China by European car makers
00:41represented 24 percent of the share. Almost 440,000 EVs were exported from
00:49China into the EU last year with a combined value of 10.8 billion dollars.
