Sunderland schoolboy describes excitement at qualifying for tournament to become world's best junior golfer

Joseph Newby, 10, has qualified for the Champions of Champions tournament.

00:00Okay then Joseph, so tell me, how did you qualify then for the Champions' Champion

00:19Trophy?

00:20So, to qualify, my coach was helping us to get to the stage, and with that I was playing

00:30like three or four times a week.

00:35I understand, did you win like a regional tournament to qualify, is that right?

00:39Yes, a regional tournament, at Malton in Norton.

00:44And how does it feel to now go and actually play, and you know, what's the effect of the

00:47World Championship for kids, how does that make you feel?

00:50Excited.

00:51And how long have you been playing golf for?

00:53Four and a half years.

00:55And what's your handicap?

00:5614.4.

00:57I'm guessing that's really low for a ten year old, yeah?

01:01So Dad, how do you feel about your son's achievements in qualifying for this tournament?

01:04Very, very proud of Joseph.

01:05The hard work which went in is absolutely unbelievable.

01:10He worked so hard, and we're really, really proud of him.
