00:00Squid Game Season 2 will keep you coming back for more, and more, and more.
00:05The official teaser for the long-awaited sequel series is finally here, and a lot of things
00:10look familiar, tragically familiar.
00:13There's the green jumpsuits and hundreds of unwitting players putting their lives on the
00:17line, the pink-suited overseers ruthlessly running the show, and Player 456 himself,
00:23Song Yi-Hoon, back on the playing field once again.
00:26I've never seen a game ever show at all!"
00:29Following up on the end of Squid Game's first season, Yi-Hoon is making good on his choice
00:33to return as a contestant to try and tear the game down from the inside, using his experience
00:39as the last game's winner.
00:40His first goal seems to be to save as many lives as possible, making himself available
00:45as a human strategy guide.
00:47But the teaser suggests he quickly learns his goals are easier said than done.
00:50It looks like he's not going to be able to help anyone if they're not willing to help
00:53themselves.
00:55The first season made clear that the reason why anyone ends up in these games is simple
00:59— desperation, and the belief that money can save them.
01:03The literal piggy bank looming over the contestants' heads is a constant reminder of what they
01:08stand to gain by surviving, and what they'll lose if they walk away.
01:12That slim chance of winning all the money they could ever want overrides their rational
01:15brains, leading them closer to danger and self-destruction.
01:19It's the ultimate gambler's impulse.
01:21One more game.
01:25HANPAN DO!
01:27HANPAN DO!
01:29This line, seemingly chanted by every player at this point in Season 2's story, calls back
01:33to the hook that initially got Gi-hun involved with these games to begin with.
01:38One more round.
01:39When he was getting lured into the games, putting his body at risk for money made sense.
01:43He had his reasons.
01:44In the teaser for Season 2, it looks like he's forgotten what that felt like.
01:48Hearing everyone he's trying to save chant their commitment to another game, Gi-hun looks
01:52totally lost.
01:53It looks like he thought this would be easy, but it'd do well to remember that he basically
01:57made the same choice.
01:59The central question of Season 2 seems to be how much bloodshed will these players need
02:03to see before they join Gi-hun in his efforts to break the game from inside?
02:07Will any of them listen, or is Gi-hun doomed to once again be the last man standing?
02:12One thing seems certain, if Gi-hun spends a whole game trying to foment revolution,
02:16he's probably not walking away with his life, much less any prize money.
02:20So in an ironic way, Gi-hun is once again putting his life on the line for an even bigger
02:25prize.
02:26He's gambling on his chances, just like everyone else.
02:29You might think he knows more than all the other players, but he also might be the biggest
02:33fool of them all.
02:34He got the chance to walk away, and decided not to take it.
02:37Now he might be in a game he's got no chance to win.
02:40There's only one way to find out how it all works out for Gi-hun and all the other players,
02:44and that's by watching Squid Game when Season 2 premieres on December 26th, 2024.
