00:00The defense team of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has applied to transfer
00:07his sedition case to the Kota Bharu High Court.
00:10Lawyer Amer Hamza Arshad, who attended a case remention at the Guamusang Sessions Court
00:16on Monday together with his client, said the application was filed last Friday.
00:21He said it is based on concerns that Sections 3 and 4 of the Sedition Act may conflict with
00:27Article 10 of the Federal Constitution, potentially limiting freedom of speech.
00:32He said the case will also address the role of the young Dipertuan Agong and the Prime
00:37Minister's appointment process.
00:40The Sessions Court set January 15 next year for next mention of the case and granted Muhyiddin
00:45an exemption from attending it due to logistical reasons.
00:49On August 27, Muhyiddin was charged with allegedly making seditious remarks during the Nengeri
00:55State by Election campaigning period.
00:57He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
