00:00With just hours remaining until election day in the United States, Republican presidential
00:06candidate Donald Trump is locked in a tight race with Democratic Vice President Kamala
00:11Harris.
00:12On Tuesday, just go out and vote and we're going to close this thing out and it's going
00:18to be party time.
00:19It's going to be party time.
00:20In one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime and we have momentum, it is
00:28on our side, can you feel it?
00:33Whoever wins, the result is likely to impact far beyond U.S. shores, perhaps nowhere as
00:38significantly as Europe.
00:40In Ukraine, where its defense against Russia is heavily dependent on U.S. aid, Harris has
00:46said she would continue Biden's policies, whilst Trump has promised to end the conflict
00:51before even taking office and has a history of being tough on NATO.
00:56In the streets of Kyiv, citizens see uncertainty in both candidates.
01:01If Harris wins, it will be a continuation of the sham assistance to Ukraine, which means
01:06that they will talk and do nothing.
01:09If Trump wins, he will most likely push for an end to the war and give away a share of
01:13Ukrainian territory.
01:15In either case, Ukraine loses.
01:18Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says the outcome will impact Russia's readiness
01:23for negotiation, likely before the next president even assumes office, whilst Hungarian Prime
01:29Minister Viktor Orban, a long-time supporter of Trump, says Europe will need to rethink
01:34its support if he returns to the White House.
01:38And the wind is turning in America as well.
01:41Democrats are leaving and Republicans are coming back and Donald Trump will be the president
01:45again.
01:46And this means that by the end of the year, pro-peace politicians will be in the majority
01:50in the West.
01:52Trade with Europe is another key area in question.
01:55The continent relies heavily on the US and Trump appears to want to make that more expensive.
02:00German Finance Minister Christian Lindner says he is following the race closely and
02:05sees the risk of tariffs in the next US administration.
02:09A trade controversy between the US and the European Union would not see any winner but
02:18only losers.
02:19And so whoever will enter the White House, we are in the forefront of a new era of transatlantic
02:31diplomacy.
02:32Do we believe in opportunity?
02:35Whatever the outcome, experts say the US election could bring a wider shift in the geopolitical
02:41environment, putting in focus Europe's trailing competitiveness in areas including tech and
02:46innovation and exposing its reliance on the US for defense.
