00:00A joke calling Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage threatens to alienate Hispanic
00:05voters from Donald Trump's campaign.
00:12Citizens of Valencia continued a joint clean-up effort following devastating floods in eastern
00:17Spain.
00:21Thousands of Georgians again protested against election results as opposition leaders vowed
00:26to boycott parliament.
00:31Sweden has rejected 13 out of 14 planned offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea, citing security
00:38concerns.
00:44US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris were in Swing State, Pennsylvania
00:50after a bad joke at a Trump rally threatened to alienate Latin American voters.
00:55Speaking at a Trump rally in New York, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a floating
01:00island of garbage, sparking fury from voters and accusations of racism.
01:05When I was knocking at the doors the other day, I did run into an individual from Puerto
01:10Rico who mentioned this actually made him flip his vote.
01:15It's something that I feel is very important.
01:19You can't disrespect the people who you're asking them to vote for.
01:24The two candidates are competing to win over Puerto Rican communities in Pennsylvania and
01:28other Swing States.
01:31Puerto Rico has a big, big issue because we don't know how to recycle.
01:36We don't recycle.
01:37We're hiring now neighboring little islands to come and pick up our trash.
01:42Maybe he thought that that's what he was saying.
01:45So the only candidate today in the ballot that represents Latino values is Donald Trump
01:51and the Republican Party.
01:53We are family first.
01:55We're family oriented.
01:59Pennsylvania is the biggest Swing State in the U.S. and its 19 electoral votes could
02:04be the difference between victory or defeat for either candidate.
02:21While Americans are anxiously awaiting the outcome of this historic presidential race,
02:36Washington is bracing for the worst.
02:37The District of Columbia is preparing for another violent attack on supporters of Donald
02:38Trump should he lose to Kamala Harris.
02:39As you can see behind me, the White House complex is looking like a fortress.
02:40A black metal fence of more than two meters in height has been added to already existing
02:56tight security measures.
02:57Federal and local authorities fear scenes reminiscent of the deadly assault on the Capitol
03:04on January the 6th, 2021.
03:07That day, a pro-Trump mob ransacked the halls of Congress as the then president spread lies
03:14about his election loss.
03:15And today, again, Trump has already started to question the integrity of the vote before
03:21ballots are counted, especially in Georgia.
03:24In that southern state, Republican top election officials and the courts have debunked claims
03:30of fraud, but that hasn't stopped Trump from repeating them, resulting in an atmosphere
03:36of suspicion and anxiety.
03:39Will the election be peaceful?
03:41America is holding its breath.
03:44Stefan Grobe, Euronews, Washington.
03:50Citizens, volunteers and thousands of soldiers and police officers continued a joint clean-up
03:58effort following devastating floods in eastern Spain that killed over 200 people.
04:04Throughout the town of Aldaya, near Valencia, volunteers set up medical and food distribution
04:10points, but many people feel abandoned by authorities.
04:34Spain is used to autumn storms that can lead to flooding, but the latest ones have produced
04:51the deadliest flooding in living memory for Spaniards.
04:55The situation in large parts of Valencia remains dramatic.
04:59Ninety kilometres of regional railway line were destroyed by the floods.
05:04It will take months to get back to normal.
05:14Thousands of Georgian opposition supporters gathered in Tbilisi for a second time on Monday
05:19to protest the election result they say was rigged.
05:23The ruling Georgian Dream Party was declared the winner on 26 October amid allegations
05:29of vote rigging helped by Russia.
05:32The protesters waved Georgian and European flags demanding new parliamentary elections
05:37under international supervision and an investigation of the alleged election fraud.
05:45European election observers said they witnessed instances of bribery, double voting and physical
05:50violence.
05:53Opposition leaders vowed to boycott sessions of parliament and hold regular protests until
05:58their demands are met.
06:01The opposition is also urging the West not to recognise the vote and will gather more
06:05evidence of violations to push for a new election.
06:17Sweden has rejected 13 out of 14 planned offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea, citing security
06:25concerns.
06:26Only one new wind farm has been approved, the Poseidon project, which will have a maximum
06:31of 81 turbines.
06:56Sweden's defence minister said that the wind farms would make it harder to detect and shoot
07:08down missiles to defend the latest NATO member in case of a conflict.
07:15Germany and the UK signed a significant defence treaty last week, enhancing cooperation against
07:20land, sea, air and deep precision strike capabilities.
07:24The signing of the Trinity House Agreement binds Germany, the UK and France through bilateral
07:29treaties.
07:31Defence expert Dr Eileen Matle says the timing of signing the pact is no coincidence.
07:37It certainly is another step in order to strengthen the European pillar in NATO.
07:44Other steps have been, for example, the European long-range strike approach, which focuses
07:50on developing and acquiring together in a sort of European context long-range missiles
07:56that have become much more vital to the defence and also the sort of air defence bits of European
08:02nations in the wake of and also the context of Russia's renewed attack on Ukraine.
08:08However, is the treaty enough to strengthen NATO?
08:14I don't think that this agreement alone will be the silver bullet saving and helping Europeans
08:24to contribute much more to their own defence and to take care of their own defence.
08:29But I think it certainly is a very important step in political terms because it sends a
08:35message both to domestic audiences but even more importantly to other Europeans and also
08:41to the US audience.
08:44What is the future of this treaty?
08:49So the only thing I think is important also to bear in mind in this context is that this
08:55agreement is not legally binding yet.
08:58In order to make it legally binding, both countries have announced to come up with an
09:04actual treaty that will then be signed by both heads of state, by German Chancellor
09:10Scholz and by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, which as far as I know is supposed to be
09:17drawn up earlier next year.
09:20This happens in every election, it's commonplace.
09:24This new pact symbolises a new chapter in European security.
09:28Whatever the outcome in the US election, a stronger, more self-reliant Europe is a necessity.
09:35Liv Stroud, in Berlin, for Euronews.
09:41Four people, including minors, were injured in a violent axe attack on a train near Paris,
09:49according to French media reports citing police sources.
09:53One victim reportedly had their hand severed while another had their skull split open.
09:58The two others were less seriously injured.
10:01They were hurt after a fight broke out aboard the French train line in the morning.
10:06What's shocking is that it happened at 8am, the day of the school return,
10:11since we've just spent 15 days on holiday.
10:13That means that they may have made an appointment there.
10:15So what's really shocking about that is that it may have been assumed that they were
10:21going to their school with weapons.
10:28The state rail operator said because the train was halted at the station at the time of the incident,
10:34the violence did not affect traffic on the line.
10:43Palestinian officials say Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank have attacked their neighbourhoods,
10:49setting cars and property on fire.
10:51Local officials said at least 18 vehicles were burned,
10:55but no one was wounded during the early morning attack in Al-Biray, a city adjacent to Ramallah.
11:02Israeli police who handle law enforcement matters involving settlers in the West Bank
11:07said they were investigating the incident.
11:09Meanwhile, senior officials in the Palestine Foreign Affairs have condemned Israel's ending
11:15of the agreement with a UN agency providing aid in Gaza.
11:19We are deeply concerned by this unlawful decision which revokes the privileges and immunities of UNRWA
11:25and terminates its operation in the occupied state of Palestine.
11:29We consider these laws as illegal, null and void.
11:34Israel says the agency, known as UNRWA, has been infiltrated by Hamas.
11:39UNRWA denies the allegations and says it takes measures to ensure its neutrality.
