00:00An UMNO leader has rejected claims that the Barisan National brand is outdated in Sabah
00:07and would hinder the coalition's chances in the state election expected next year.
00:12Sabah UMNO Deputy Chairman, Abdul Rahman Dalan, was responding to political analyst
00:17Bill Cherbala of University Malaysia Sabah, who said BN needs a transformation
00:22and should collaborate with other parties to secure electoral success.
00:26Rahman said BN's performance in the last state election showed that BN remains a viable option
00:32for voters as the coalition secured more state assembly seats compared to most other parties
00:37that contested. Bill Cher was commenting on Sabah BN Chairman, Bung Mukhtar Radin's statement
00:43that the party is prepared to go solo in the state election if no cooperation agreements
00:48are reached with other parties. However, BN Chairman Ahmad Zayed Hamidi said earlier
00:54they had finalized a partnership with Pakatan Harapan for the state election,
00:58while also leaving open the possibility of including Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.
