00:00The small town of Dixville Notch in New Hampshire was the first to vote at the start of in-person voting in the 2024 U.S. presidential elections.
00:13By midnight, six voters had already voted, and in the results released to the town, three votes were taken by the Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris,
00:26Alt-Republican candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump, an indication of the so-called close battle between the two candidates based on various opinions.
00:38In the latest poll, the New York Times reported that 49 percent voted for Harris, while 48 percent voted for Trump.
00:46According to ABC and 538, 48 percent voted for Harris, while 46.8 percent voted for Trump.
00:54So Harris and Trump were in favor of the candidates' leadership until the last day of the campaign.
01:00Harris ended her campaign in Philadelphia, while Trump ended his campaign in Michigan.
01:06They said he's the greatest president in history and the best president on the border by a factor of 10.
01:15And I said to them, does that mean I'm better than Abraham Lincoln and George?
01:18What? Yes, sir. You're better than both of them.
01:21Assuming we can win tomorrow, which I think we should be able to do pretty easily.
01:25It's in our hands, right?
01:27It's in our hands.
01:29It's totally in our hands.
01:31I am ready to offer that leadership as the next president of the United States of America.
01:43However, the race ain't over yet.
01:46And we must finish strong.
01:48And this could be, this could be one of the closest races in history.
01:55Every single vote matters.
01:57Both of them were elected to Pennsylvania, one of the most important swing states that Harris or Trump should win to become the next president of the United States of America.
02:08Aside from Pennsylvania, Harris and Trump have been courting other swing states for several weeks,
02:15such as Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Georgia.
02:21Of the 270 electoral votes that need to be won, 93 electoral votes or more than 30 percent are in these swing states.
02:31All of these states have a lot of Filipinos or Filipinos who have become U.S. citizens.
02:36Although, the number of Filipino voters in the United States is not that high, according to the Ambassador of the Philippines to the United States, Jose Manuel Romualdez.
02:44I'm also happy because I'm from Ohio and Filipinos are happy there.
02:51Some of them are Republican candidates and others are Democratic candidates.
02:56This is what some Filipino-Americans said when they were talking to GMA Integrated News.
03:02Two-thirds, two-thirds Harris, one-third Trump in what's happening. I don't know, in other communities.
03:12One of Trump's policies is to close the U.S. border to illegal immigrants and to push for America First,
03:21while Harris is open to giving opportunities to everyone, whether American or immigrant, as long as the document is legal.
03:28Trump's issues are very basic, especially the issue of peace and order, which is very strong.
03:36So if you're a middle-class Filipino-American citizen, chances are you will gravitate towards the Republicans.
03:44But what should be remembered...
03:47So let's see. We don't know. Maybe the surprise will happen again in 2016.
03:54Everyone was expecting Hillary Clinton to win, then suddenly Donald Trump won. We don't know.
04:01For GMA Integrated News, J.P. Soriano.
