00:00Good morning everyone, we are here at the Commonwealth Market in Quezon City
00:04which is currently under a heavy operation
00:07following a 7-hour fire that broke out yesterday early in the morning
00:12At 2 o'clock yesterday early in the morning, the fire started here in this area behind me
00:17in this Commonwealth Market. It started in the dry goods section
00:22As you can see behind me right now, there are burnt rice
00:27They are the only ones that were burnt in that section of the Commonwealth Market
00:32There were also burnt plastics, oils, condiments, and other items
00:38More than 100 stalls were burnt and were affected by the fire
00:46The question that many of our fellow citizens are asking is, how did it reach 7 hours?
00:50The problem that the Kawarinang Bureau of Fire Protection had here
00:54is that their fire hydrant is very far from here
00:57and they even reached the rush hour here in the Commonwealth Market
01:01That's why their efforts were delayed
01:05so that the fire that broke out here in the Commonwealth Market yesterday can be extinguished immediately
01:11Currently, the electricity is dead here in a large part of the Commonwealth Market
01:16and the burnt rice that was burnt yesterday was also affected by the fire
01:21Some of the stalls were not affected by the fire
01:24but of course, there are only a limited number of people going there
01:29and they don't have electricity yet, so the operation is not far from normal
01:34Earlier, when we entered here, we saw the affected vendors
01:39They were just outside here. The others were just on the street that we saw earlier
01:44Currently, the Bureau of Fire is continuing its investigation
01:48Until a while ago, we saw some firefighters here
01:52They were mapping up the area
01:56because even if it's just a small fire, it might spread again
02:00and the fire might rekindle again
02:04That's why the Bureau of Fire Protection is investigating this
02:07Even though they are still investigating, one of the possible causes of this fire
02:13is the electrical problem that started the fire
02:19The BFP is still investigating this fire
02:22and we are still asking the local government for help
02:30to the more than 100 vendors or stall owners
02:35who were affected by the fire here in the Commonwealth Market yesterday
02:40We will be back with another update from the Commonwealth Market in Quezon City
02:44For now, let's go back to the studio
