00:19for evacuation out of Gaza.
00:26Hurricane Rafael swirled past the Cayman Islands while expected to rapidly intensify before
00:30making landfall on Wednesday in western Cuba, forecast to hit as Category 3 hurricane.
00:42Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Atelesu Studios in Havana,
00:46Cuba.
00:47Let's begin with the news.
00:59In the United States, Republican Party candidate Donald Trump became the new president of the
01:03North American country.
01:05Donald Trump has won the U.S. presidential election, defeating in the electoral votes
01:08count his Democratic contender Kamala Harris, crossing the 270 mark after securing Wisconsin.
01:14Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris makes him the first former president
01:18to return to power in non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland regained the White
01:22House in the 1892 elections.
01:25He is also the first convicted criminal to win the highest elected office in the United
01:28States.
01:29Republicans also took control of the Senate, Flipping seats in Ohio and West Virginia.
01:34This election is considered one of the most significant in recent U.S. history, with results
01:38that could shape both the future of the nation and global geopolitics over the next 40 years.
02:08And now it's going to reach a new level of importance because we're going to help our
02:23country heal.
02:24We're going to help our country heal.
02:26We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly.
02:32We're going to fix our borders.
02:33We're going to fix everything about our country, and we made history for a reason tonight,
02:40and the reason is going to be just that.
02:43We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible, and it is now clear that we've achieved
02:49the most incredible political thing.
02:53Look what happened.
02:54Is this crazy?
02:59Meanwhile Republicans won control of the U.S. Senate on Tuesday with victories in West Virginia
03:04and Ohio, guaranteeing that the party will control at least one chamber of Congress next
03:08year.
03:09In this sense, neither party appeared to have a clear advantage in the battle for the House
03:12of Representatives, which Republicans now control by a narrow margin.
03:16But Tuesday's results guaranteed that Republicans could help Trump appoint conservative judges
03:21and other government staff.
03:29Please now go live to Washington with our special envoy, Carlos Montero, for the latest
03:33information.
03:34Hi.
03:35Good morning.
03:36Good morning from Washington.
03:37What a night we have here in the capital.
03:38Donald Trump is the comeback kid.
03:39He's going to be again president of the United States.
03:40It was an amazing night.
03:41We were covering that for TELESUR in Español and TELESUR in Spanish.
03:42It was an amazing night.
03:43We were covering that for TELESUR in Spanish and TELESUR in Spanish.
03:44It was an amazing night.
03:45We were covering that for TELESUR in Spanish and TELESUR in Spanish.
03:46It was an amazing night.
03:47We were covering that for TELESUR in Spanish and TELESUR in Spanish.
03:48It was an amazing night.
03:49We were covering that for TELESUR in Spanish and TELESUR in English.
04:02We knew it was going to be a bad night for Kamala Harris.
04:05We were expecting a very tight race, but the polls were closing in different states and
04:13the numbers were not looking good for the Democrat Party.
04:17There were too many reds, little blues, and Kamala Harris was waiting for the battleground
04:23states, those states we mentioned a long, long time, seven states, that they can turn
04:29the election from one candidate from one party to the other, but it wasn't like this.
04:36Around maybe 1 o'clock this morning, the chairman of the Democrat Party said, you know, Kamala
04:45Harris is going to wait for the result.
04:47She's not going to talk tonight.
04:50We knew that the situation was very bad for the Democrat.
04:55At around 2 o'clock, most of the TV stations projected that Pennsylvania, one of the battleground
05:02states, was going to be for Trump, and one hour later, around 2.30 in the morning, close
05:09to 3 o'clock, Donald Trump talked to his followers.
05:14He was with his family.
05:16He talked from Florida, where he was waiting for the result.
05:20There were his kids, his grandkids, his wife, and he said, America is going to be great
05:26again.
05:27He seems very happy for the result.
05:29That showed that the democracy works, Dijo, in that case.
05:33When he wins, it works.
05:34If he loses, what would happen?
05:36We don't know.
05:38Another good news for the Republican Party, they won, they regained the upper house of
05:46the Congress, and the lower is still holding.
05:50We don't know, but more probably, we are going to have the whole Congress in the hands of
05:56the Republican Party.
06:00This story, this result, worry a lot to the Mexican community in the USA.
06:07I want to invite to our conversation Victor Ramirez.
06:11He's really involved with the Spanish community here in the USA.
06:15I would like to see what do you think after this winning of Donald Trump.
06:21Good morning, Telesur and English.
06:25Many hope for this country is coming.
06:29Many troubles for the community speak Spanish in this country.
06:33The biggest worries right now with Trump election win last night, but we are here and
06:42we try to see what's going on, no?
06:45One day after the election.
06:48What worry the most about Donald Trump back in the White House?
06:52I think Donald Trump has tried to help the immigration issues in these four years coming
06:58soon.
07:00He tried to fix it all about immigration come to the south, to the north, and try to have
07:07a people have a legal status in control.
07:11I listened last night his speech, and when he say, I win, he tried to fix this system
07:18is broke.
07:19It's broke for many, many, many years ago in this country.
07:22It was broken, no, with Democrat.
07:25It was broken with the Republican, and what's the solution for you knowing the community
07:31to fix that broken system?
07:33What should I do?
07:35I think Donald Trump go have a contract for the senators and the House representatives
07:43is try to fix it, the broken system for immigration.
07:48Obama have it in the past 2008.
07:52He can do it, but he don't want, so there's a sense similar like 12 years ago or 16 years
08:01ago is Donald Trump thinking about fix it.
08:05He can do it.
08:06He can do it, but everything is politics in this country.
08:11He can do it.
08:12He sounds like Barack Obama.
08:13You can do it.
08:14Kamala Harris could not do it yet.
08:17Victor, thank you very much.
08:18Thank you very much.
08:19We are going to be following the story.
08:22I'm sure the Democrats, Kamala Harris is going to be in the White House until January.
08:28She's really surprised.
08:30She was waiting for the result, Howard University.
08:33We haven't got any reaction from her yet.
08:37Of course, yes, last night was a long night.
08:39I'm sure maybe she's going to sleep late this morning, but we are going to be following
08:44the story, and they're still both counting.
08:48We are going to see in the lower house of the Congress if the Republican can get that,
08:54can keep it, because they already have the Senate.
08:56Okay, this is all for now.
08:59We'll be back with you guys whenever you need me.
09:02Thank you, Carlos, for the latest information.
09:05Let's now take a short break, but first, remember you can join us on TikTok at Teleswinglish.

09:49Welcome back.
09:50In Palestine, according to the World Health Organization, at least 100 chronically ill
09:54patients are waiting for evacuation out of Gaza, among them children.
09:58In this regard, Dr. Rick Pippercorn, WHO representative for the Occupied Palestinian Territories,
10:04said that the evacuees are part of a list of priority candidates compiled by the Ministry
10:08of Health in Gaza.
10:10Pippercorn further added that since the closure of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza
10:14and Egypt on May 2024, approximately 282 medical evacuations have taken place.
10:20In this case, the patients will travel in a large convoy to the Arab Emirates and Romania
10:25to receive necessary care.
10:31He has a war injury.
10:33He had a fractured spine, a broken foot, burns on his hands and back, and stiff bones.
10:39The child suffers from autism and hyperactivity.
10:42He woke up the second day, unable to get up or move due to the war injury.
10:48He fell from the third floor, and we found him on the ground, the rubble under and above
10:53him.
10:54His two brothers were martyred, and three of my sons, and their wives and five of my
10:59grandchildren.
11:00I woke up and did not find anyone in the house.
11:09My son's condition has deteriorated a lot.
11:12He currently has ulcers on his back that have reached the bone.
11:16He cannot move his legs at all.
11:18He needs intensive physical therapy and requires surgical operations.
11:23I have been waiting for five months for any day for him to come out for treatment and
11:28for his condition to improve.
11:30Thank God, they call us today.
11:32God willing, he will head to the United Arab Emirates.
11:38Palestine and Gaza Health Ministry reported having completed on Wednesday the polio vaccine
11:42vaccination, as 24% of children received the full dose of the drug.
11:46The Gaza Ministry of Health, Bayat Abu Ramadan, confirmed that 556,374 children younger than
11:5210 years old reached the second dose.
11:54However, the ministry denounced that minors of the northern governorate of the Strip are
11:58still deprived of this reinforcement due to the escalation of the genocide operation in
12:02the area.
12:03Israeli occupying forces have bombed and destroyed several vaccination centers.
12:08The authorities recalled that children in the north are exposed to the disease, therefore
12:12it is necessary that they be fully immunized to avoid the disease's transmission.
12:21Also in Palestine, the World Health Organization is currently evacuating 113 patients, mostly
12:26children, from Gaza Strip to the United Arab Emirates and Romania to receive medical care.
12:32The WHO representative for the occupied Palestinian territory, Rick Peppercorn, reported that
12:37the patients, mostly children with trauma injuries and chronic diseases, have been living
12:41in a large convoy via the current Shalom crossing with Israel.
12:45By the time they arrive there, the majority will then depart from Ramon Airport in southern
12:49Israel to the United Arab Emirates, while others will head for Romania.
12:53A mother of a Gazan child injured shared information about her son's health condition.
13:05Mohammed was hit by shrapnel in the head on August 11th, which caused skin lacerations
13:09and a skull fracture.
13:11His condition got worse and worse.
13:13My child underwent four operations in 25 days due to that shrapnel.
13:17We obtained a permit from the World Health Organization, and we will leave with the organization.
13:24The Israeli aggression against Lebanon entered its 44th day, causing dozens of martyrs and
13:29wounded.
13:30The number of martyrs continues to increase since the beginning of the aggression on October
13:338th, 2023.
13:35Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health issued a
13:38statement announcing that the non-definite balance of the Israeli enemy attack on Burja
13:43has risen to 20, and 14 wounded.
13:47In this context, the destructive war waged by Israeli enemy forces against Lebanon, particularly
13:53in the southern part of the country, military operations have intensified to unprecedented
13:57levels.
13:58More than 37 localities have been completely razed, resulting in the total destruction
14:02of over 40,000 homes.
14:09Also in Lebanon, the Ministry of Culture condemned the criminal attacks of the Israeli regime
14:13on the nation and its archaeological monuments.
14:15The organization stresses that the Zionist occupation seeks to destroy history, civilization
14:20and brotherhood, stressing that for Tel Aviv, it is unbearable not to have history in Palestine,
14:26so it tries to erase its history and sink the region and those who support it.
14:31The entity also highlighted the country's position in demanding a ceasefire and the
14:34implementation of the International Resolution 1701 of the United Nations without amendments
14:40that demands the cessation of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel.
14:46Meanwhile, in Syria, the armed forces reported violent Israeli bombardments against the municipality
14:53of Al-Qusayr in the province of Homs near the border with Lebanon, leaving one dead
14:58and five wounded.
14:59According to local media, the air raids targeted several buildings.
15:02Likewise, the systematic attack by the Tel Aviv regime caused heavy fires and severe
15:07damage to infrastructure in the industrial zone.
15:10It is important to point out that last October 31st, the same city was the target of a similar
15:15aggression that left at least 10 people dead.
15:18It is worth noting that Israel has intensified its hostile military actions against targets
15:22in Syrian territory, some of them against suburbs of the capital Damascus.
15:33On staying in the Middle East, it is estimated that Israel has dropped more than 85,000 tons
15:37of bombs on the Gaza Strip since October 2023.
15:41The figure far exceeds the bombing bill of World War II.
15:44The figure was confirmed on Wednesday by the Palestinian Environmental Quality Authority.
15:48The destruction of Washington and Tel Aviv's genocide operation reaches vast areas of agricultural
15:53soil and has also contaminated the soil with toxic substances that will stop agricultural
15:58development for decades.
15:59The report prepared for the World Day to prevent the use of the environment in wars and military
16:05conflicts also highlights that Syrianist maneuvers cause serious damage to water sources and
16:10severely pollute the air.

17:03Hurricane Rafael swirled past the Cayman Islands, expected to rapidly intensify before landfall.
17:07It's a Category 3 hurricane on Wednesday in western Cuba.
17:11The storm was about 150 km south of La Isla de Ventura.
17:14It had maximum sustained winds of 160 km per hour and was moving northwest at 22 km per
17:20hour.
17:21Forecasters warned that Rafael would slam into Cuba on Wednesday after dumping rain
17:24on Jamaica and the Cayman Islands on Tuesday.
17:28While authorities warn of floods, storm surges and mudslides, in Cuba, the Provincial Defense
17:32Council of Havana also ordered the suspension of public transport services.
17:37As well, the hurricane will have a direct impact on the western part of the island.
17:46The United Nations Organization reported that more than 2 billion inhabitants of the planet's
17:51major cities could face an additional temperature increase of at least 0.5 degrees Celsius
17:56by 2040.
17:57UN-Habitat estimated that cities need an investment of between 4.5 and 5.4 trillion U.S. dollars
18:05per year to build and maintain climate-resilient systems.
18:08However, current financing is estimated at 831 billion dollars.
18:13In this regard, the agency recognized that this shortfall leaves cities and especially
18:17their most vulnerable populations exposed to increasing risks.
18:21In addition, the director of the entity, Ana Claudia Rosbach, urged an accelerated transformation
18:26of neighborhoods and attentions to the needs of the most vulnerable areas of cities.
18:36Spain announced a 10.6 billion euro aid package to help those affected by flash floods that
18:41killed at least 217 people and destroyed businesses and homes last week.
18:47According to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, the package includes 838 million euros in
18:51cash handouts to small businesses and freelance workers affected by the disaster.
18:55The package also includes 5 billion euros of state-guaranteed loans, while the national
19:00government will finance 100% of the cleanup costs by local councils and half the repair
19:05to infrastructure.
19:06In addition, the Prime Minister said that Spain had also requested aid from the European
19:10Union Solidarity Fund.
19:17There are 10.6 billion euros in this first response of the first phase of this immediate
19:22reconstruction and recovery plan for the Valencian community.
19:30It is a good first step, an agile and ambitious step with concrete, realistic measures that
19:35are coming into force now and that are going to help people and businesses in the coming
19:39days and weeks.
19:42In Cameroon, at least four people died following two landslides that occurred on the road in
19:47the municipality of Chang, in the west of the country.
19:50Authorities reported that one of the landslides occurred in the morning hours and the second
19:55one happened when emergency teams were working at the site.
19:58For this reason, they called on the public to stay away from the affected area and urge
20:03drivers to respect safety regulations given the magnitude of the damages.
20:08Search and rescue operations continue, so the death toll could still increase.
20:28In Brazil, the Chinese Film Festival kicked off in Rio de Janeiro as part of the reinforcement
20:33of integration between Brazilian and Chinese peoples.
20:36The festival will run until November 8th and will showcase the contemporary diversity
20:40of Chinese cinema while reflecting and celebrating the cultural ties between Brazil and the Asian
20:45nation.
20:46During the event, three films will be screened at special times at the Odeon Cinema and the
20:52Kinoplex Chao Luiz Cinema.
20:54The festival program, that includes nine feature films, is organized by the Brazil-China Social
20:59Cultural Institute, IBARCHINA, and it is the result of a partnership between the governments
21:04of both nations.
