00:28Abul Gheit and various Palestinian authorities at his residence in the capital of Egypt.
00:36And in Cuba, meteorological and civil defense established the informative face for the western

00:47the Caribbean Sea which could affect the country.
00:57Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Televisa Studios in Havana,
01:02Cuba.
01:03We begin with the news.
01:15The United States enters the final stretch of the presidential election.
01:19Donald Trump and Kamala Harris step up their efforts to win votes on the eve of the polls.
01:24Democrat Kamala Harris and her Republican opponent Donald Trump enter the final full
01:27day of campaigning amid a split in the electorate, nationally and in seven key swing states.
01:33Polls show Harris and Trump are neck-to-neck in an early vote of more than 74 million citizens,
01:39with both Democrats and Republicans breaking records for turnout in the last two elections.
01:44The main parties have floated social networks and various media outlets with advertising
01:49campaigns in search of votes.
01:58Let's now welcome international analyst Arnold August to go deeper on Tuesday's key presidential
02:02election in the U.S.
02:04Hello Arnold, welcome again to From the South.
02:07Thank you for having me once again, it's always a pleasure to collaborate with Televisa.
02:12It's always our pleasure as well.
02:14Arnold, what were the key topics that dominated the presidential race and how do you believe
02:19they resonate with international concerns?
02:21Well, in my view, there is one main issue that erupted during the election campaign
02:30and that is the issue of Palestine.
02:34No one in the United States could deal with it.
02:40That was the issue right up to the elections tomorrow.
02:46We talk about swing states, how does Kamala Harris deal with the issue of Palestine given
02:53the fact that her administration with Joe Biden oversaw and still today oversees the
03:02notorious genocide against the Palestinian people, as well as the barbaric aggressions
03:09against Lebanon.
03:12She has, it's interesting to see how they operate.
03:14This is typical of American politics, I have to say.
03:18When she is in Pennsylvania, one of the swing states, Harris puts emphasis on key words
03:25that appeal to many of the Jewish voters or the pro-Zionist voters in Pennsylvania, using
03:33terms such as Israel has a right to defend itself, etc., which is, in my view, the term
03:40Israel has a right to defend itself is synonymous with accepting genocide.
03:46However, when she goes to another swing state, for example, in Michigan, where there is a
03:53very important politicized Muslim Arab community in that state, she has a different story.
04:02She says something else.
04:03She does not say Israel has a right to defend itself.
04:07She puts a lot of emphasis, of course, hypocritically, because they're the ones who did it, Biden
04:13and Harris, hypocritically about the dire situation of the people in Gaza and also in
04:21Lebanon.
04:22But she still says that key word.
04:24She is in favor of bringing home the hostages.
04:27So her main emphasis in Michigan is to garner sympathy from the American Muslim population
04:33there, and so she puts emphasis on the suffering of the Palestinian people.
04:39But she still managed to put in that key word, bring the hostages home.
04:44In my view, bring the hostages home without mentioning the thousands of political prisoners
04:51that are tortured and gang-raped in the jails, in the prisons of Israel.
04:57So what is happening in Gaza, the other atrocities in Gaza, is, in fact, to put all the emphasis
05:05in support of Israel.
05:07So that is one of the main features of the swing states.
05:11Will she succeed in doing it?
05:13I don't know.
05:14But in any case, talking about swing states and Palestine, which in my view is the issue,
05:20something new came up yesterday, which I'd like to share with you and the TeleSort audience,
05:27which I'm sure is interested, given the fact there's a widespread support for Palestine
05:33amongst the people in the United States, Canada, and other countries that are listening to
05:38your program.
05:39And this is what happened yesterday, a breakthrough.
05:42We often hear in the mainstream media, Republicans versus Democrats.
05:47From time to time recently, Dr. Jill Stein of the Green Party, she erupted in the news
05:53a few days ago, a few weeks ago, not because they wanted to acknowledge that she is important,
06:00because of her stance openly in favor of Palestine, but they had no choice.
06:05She erupted in the news.
06:07Now what happened yesterday was that there are three main parties that oppose the two-party
06:14system, that is the Democrats and Republicans, and support Palestine.
06:19One is Jill Stein's Green Party, the other is Claudia de la Cruz and her party, and thirdly,
06:25Cornell West.
06:27Three different organizations, important personalities in progressive circles in the United States.
06:34They reached the following agreement yesterday.
06:36They agreed to, first of all, not all of these candidates, because of the Democratic attempt
06:43to keep them off the ballots, repeat, Democrats keeping the third parties off the ballots,
06:50not the Republicans.
06:52Because of that, they have decided, these three entities have decided, where they are
06:57on the ballots, of course they will present themselves, but where they did not succeed
07:02in getting on the ballot, they would support another candidate who is on the ballot.
07:10So you have this collaboration going on, where if they are on the ballots, they appeal to
07:18vote for their candidate, but if they are not on the ballot, for example, if Claudia
07:21de la Cruz or Dr. Stein is not on the ballot in such and such a state, they are asking
07:29for voters to vote either for Cornell West or Claudia de la Cruz.
07:34This is very significant.
07:36Now, a lot of people are putting pressure on them, saying, oh no, if all this vote builds up,
07:42this is going to take away votes for the Democratic Party.
07:45Let's go into it.
07:46First, I'd like to point out why it's important for listers to know about those three parties.
07:52What do they have in common?
07:53One, against the duopoly, which reminds me, that is the key thing.
07:58Remember, only about 55% of the voting age population vote in the U.S. elections.
08:05That is, there is a huge amount of lack of confidence in the two-party system.
08:11Secondly, they support Palestine without any reservation.
08:16Thirdly, they oppose black liberation.
08:19They also support the issues of environment and the question of the rights of the working people and women.
08:28This is what they have in common.
08:31They have worked out this arrangement yesterday.
08:33In my view, it will be historic.
08:35Perhaps we will see how far they can get to build a new base in the United States
08:41that goes against the two-party system.
08:45As we were saying, Palestine has been one of the main topics and now these issues,
08:48as you were reporting, we reported that also on these days of this alliance with third parties,
08:53criticizing the duoparty and not believing in the efficiency.
08:57What other key foreign policy issues do you think will be influenced by the outcome of this election
09:02and how might they shift under the new administration?
09:07Firstly, I say Palestine is the main issue.
09:12But of course, it is not the only issue.
09:14Let's take the issue of the war in Ukraine.
09:17Now, Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party, so-called progressive Democratic Party,
09:23so-called party of the left in comparison to Donald Trump's Republicans,
09:28she has said, firstly, in the course of her campaign,
09:33that she wants to have the most lethal army in the history of the world.
09:38If that is a warmongering statement, I don't know what, if that's not a warmongering statement,
09:44please suggest another one that is as warmongering as this,
09:49based on the history of the U.S. military going back to the early stages of the United States
09:55and carrying out aggression, coup d'etat, etc., against the peoples of the world.
10:00So the issue of Ukraine is very interesting.
10:03So, you know, of course, she wants to carry on full support of Ukraine.
10:08Now, I'm not a supporter of Trump, but one has to say the following.
10:12In the debate that took place, TV debate that took place between Harris and Trump,
10:18I think it was about a month ago, one of the hosts asked Trump,
10:24do you support unhesitantly, without condition, Ukraine against Russia?
10:32You know what? Trump refused to answer that.
10:35He did not say yes unconditionally. This is different from Kamala Harris.
10:41And on the issue of, for example, on Venezuela,
10:46I think the situation in Venezuela is extremely touching, very, very difficult.
10:54We know what happened on July 28th after the elections.
10:58I was there in Caracas before and during the elections,
11:03and witnessed directly or indirectly through television,
11:08when Maduro showed the films of the fascist attacks in Venezuela.
11:12I saw that on television in my hotel room.
11:15So now, you know, the fascist attack against Venezuela,
11:22of course, this was facilitated by none other than Biden and Harris,
11:29who refused to recognize Maduro as the lawful winner of the elections.
11:35Now, these fascist attacks against Venezuela are increasing.
11:39Just yesterday, there was a news coming out of Venezuela,
11:43where President Maduro announced that they got wind of more fascist attacks
11:49being organized by the United States from their territory,
11:54with Venezuelans going to Venezuela illegally in order to carry out
11:59other type of guarimbas or fascist attacks in Venezuela.
12:04And I don't think it's an accident that Venezuela is organizing
12:09an anti-fascist grunt in Venezuela.
12:14It started last September, is going on today,
12:18and will carry on in the month of November.
12:21I think it is perfectly just that Venezuela, as they say,
12:26is the epicenter of the world's struggle against fascism.
12:31You know, I guess it's a bit like the republic in Spain before World War II,
12:36where all of the fascist forces are geared,
12:40are targeting Maduro to overthrow Maduro.
12:43This is a very serious situation.
12:46And I personally think that the holding of these anti-fascist fronts,
12:50anti-fascist meetings in Caracas, is a valuable thing.
12:54It's a very important thing.
12:56And we talk about foreign policy, how can we forget about Cuba?
13:00During the four years of the administration by Harris and Biden,
13:07of course they carried out exactly all the sanctions and more that Trump instituted.
13:16However, something serious happened only a short while ago,
13:20when you had, by coincidence, on the one hand,
13:23the major blackouts in the country over a period of several days,
13:29connected coincidentally, had nothing to do with politics,
13:33but by the atmosphere, the devastating effects of Oscar.
13:38So during the course of the Biden-Harris administration,
13:44you have Cuba suffering so much because of the twin effects of the blackouts,
13:50which is, as a result, in the name of the U.S. policy
13:54to disallow oil going into Cuba from various countries,
14:01as well as disallowing, making it impossible for Cuba to buy the spare parts,
14:08which are necessary to keep those goods going.
14:12So this happened under Biden and Harris.
14:16You know, the policy of the United States against Cuba
14:22has been right from the beginning.
14:24When Mallory said in the 1960s,
14:26make the people suffer, starve, so they will rise up
14:30and blame the Cuban government and overthrow the Cuban government.
14:34So, you know, what's been happening since 1960
14:37and continued under the Democratic administration
14:43is also a genocide against the Cuban people.
14:47Bruno Rodriguez, in the U.N. speech a few days ago,
14:51he put all the facts on the line,
14:54showing how the U.S. blockade against Cuba
14:58affects the everyday life of the people.
15:01Even with a great health system,
15:03they are not able to keep up with certain services.
15:06So the birth rate has gone down.
15:13The age of living has also gone down.
15:22There are many factors that affect it negatively.
15:25Putting this together, they haven't committed genocide successfully in Cuba.
15:30Not that they want to.
15:32They have not been able to do it
15:34because of the resistance of the Cuban people.
15:36So this is also a policy of genocide.
15:39Irrespective of who wins the elections,
15:42both the Democrats and the Republicans,
15:46they are in favor, we know, of the policy against Cuba.
15:50And I think one thing we have to look at further
15:53is how the movement is going with regard to the third parties
15:57for this election as well as in the future.
16:00I stayed paying attention on that, as you were saying,
16:04but unfortunately this is all we have time for right now
16:06in this Brief from the South.
16:08Thank you, Arnold, for all your inputs
16:10and, as always, your collaboration with us.
16:12Thank you for having me.

16:42Welcome back.
16:44Let's now continue on topic on the U.S. key presidential election.
16:46We go live with a special on-break,
16:48Carlos Montero, for more details
16:50as the election entries final stretch.
16:57Good morning from the capital of the USA.
17:01We are really close to election day,
17:03one of the most important elections
17:05in the history of this country.
17:07Why we are here in this important avenue?
17:09Because I want to show you guys
17:11how USA is ready for tomorrow.
17:13Those are important stores,
17:15and they are very scared
17:17that tomorrow maybe there is violence.
17:19So what the owner of the store did,
17:21they put that plaque of good
17:23to see if there is violence
17:25because it's a possibility
17:27that there is violence
17:29because it's a possibility.
17:31One of the most important papers of the USA,
17:33the one who has the most circulation,
17:35the USA Today,
17:37reflected very clear
17:39in the cover,
17:41prepping for protest
17:43and possible violence
17:45because what's happened
17:47if tomorrow, let's say,
17:49Kamala Harris wins the election
17:51and Donald Trump
17:53don't accept it,
17:55what his people are going to do?
17:57Those people, they say,
17:59it is better to prevent
18:01anything of craziness
18:03so that we cover our glasses windows
18:05with that good to see
18:07hopefully nothing is going to happen.
18:09But let's talk about what's going on today.
18:11The last day is going to
18:13be the end of a crazy campaign,
18:15that political campaign
18:17we have two intent of assassination
18:19to one candidate.
18:21The withdrawal of another candidate,
18:23the vice president,
18:25Kamala Harris,
18:27took his place.
18:29But today, the two candidates,
18:31what they are going to do?
18:33Let's start with Kamala Harris.
18:35Kamala Harris is going to be in Pennsylvania.
18:37It's one of the states
18:39that could go to either party,
18:41to blue or red,
18:43Republican or Democrat.
18:45Nineteen electoral votes
18:47depends on that state.
18:49Kamala Harris
18:51is going to put all his cards
18:53in that state.
18:55It's going to be different
18:57cities of
18:59Pennsylvania.
19:01And one of those is going to be
19:03the closing at night.
19:05What she's going to do
19:07in Philadelphia,
19:09she's going to do an important act.
19:11She's going to have a lot of
19:13her followers, famous people.
19:15It's going to be
19:17Lady Gaga.
19:19It's going to be Oprah Winfrey.
19:21Oprah Winfrey is one of the most
19:23important communicators in the
19:25USA. She used to have a talk show,
19:27very famous, and they are going
19:29to support Kamala Harris. Let's
19:31wait to see what she has to say.
19:33Let's talk now about
19:35Donald Trump. Donald Trump is going to have
19:37a busy, busy day. He's going to start
19:39in North Carolina, in Raleigh.
19:41North Carolina is
19:43another of the states that could go
19:45either way, Republican
19:47or Democrat. We don't know.
19:49Then he's going to go to Pennsylvania.
19:51He's going to go in two cities.
19:53And then he's going to
19:55finish this
19:57race, his campaign, in
19:59Michigan. Michigan is the same
20:01place where he finished in
20:032020 and 2016.
20:05So that's when he's going to
20:07close the
20:09campaign. A lot of things are
20:11happening here, and the most important
20:13is that all
20:15the polls say that's going
20:17to be a tight, very tight
20:19race, and those seven
20:21states, they call it the
20:23Pendle State, they could go either way,
20:25can't define this
20:27election. It's going to be a very important
20:29election. Telesur English,
20:31Telesur Spanish is going to
20:33be covering that. I mean, all the details
20:35and we are going to bring you all
20:37the information as soon

21:37Welcome back. In Cuba, meteorological
21:39authorities warn of an increase in the
21:41probability of the formation of a tropical depression
21:43in the Caribbean Sea, which could affect the country.
21:45According to the authorities, storm system
21:47AL-97 is
21:49developing gradually and expected to form
21:51a tropical depression within the next few hours.
21:53The Cuban government said that it is keeping
21:55a close watch on its evolution and warned that
21:57as it approaches the national territory,
21:59areas of showers,
22:01rains and thunderstorms will increase
22:03in the central and western regions.
22:05In addition, the forecast center of the Cuban
22:07Meteorological Institute assured
22:09that the probability of the formation of a tropical
