From "Churchill's People" (series, 1974-1975), ep. "Shouts and Murmurs". The Peasants' Revolt, also named Wat Tyler's Rebellion or the Great Rising, was a major uprising in 1381. The revolt had various causes, including the socio-economic and political tensions generated by the Great Plague, the high taxes resulting from the conflict with France during the Hundred Years' War, and general instability. The Battle of North Walsham was fought on 25 or 26 June 1381, near the town of North Walsham in Norfolk, in which a large group of rebellious local peasants was confronted by the heavily armed forces of Henry le Despenser, Bishop of Norwich, the battle being the last occurrence of any major resistance during the English Peasants' Revolt. The episode is starring Michael Jayston as Henry le Despenser (the Bishop of Norwich), David Daker, Gabrielle Lloyd, John Stratton, Paul Gregory. Directed by John Bruce.
