06:04transfer of power from Amadu Ayijo to Porbia was a reminder to continually build resilient
06:11institutions which are both partisan interests for Cameroon.
06:17The celebration of Porbia's reign for 42 years is equally an opportunity to review his attitude
06:22towards his collaborators.
06:23Tonight we get the view of a member of government who spent 14 years at the unity palace.
06:29The current minister of labour and social security, Grigwa Owona, one-time minister
06:34delegate at the presidency of the republic in charge of relations with parliament has
06:38fond memories of the president.
06:41Alphonse Abungwa tells us more.
06:45In 14 years spent at the unity palace, Grigwa Owona says he barely knows president Porbia.
06:52I must admit that despite my longevity in the system and the duties I've handled, I
06:58remain a second-zone close aide of president Porbia, but I admit that I still don't know
07:05him too well.
07:06But the little he knows about the architect of the new deal is his astute leadership qualities.
07:19He's a very hard-working man, he's an insightful man, he listens very attentively, he's a man
07:25of dialogue and consensus.
07:30Minister Grigwa Owona has memories with president Porbia, but one of these anecdotes strikes
07:36him most.
07:41One day I was finalizing a service note destined for him.
07:44I gave my secretary to show the head of state.
07:47My chief, the secretary general of the central committee at the time, lead minister Joseph
07:52Shandumba, called me to his office at the Yaoundé conference center.
07:55I left the presidency to meet the SG, and instructed my secretary to forward the document
08:00to the president's office because he was waiting for it.
08:04About 30 to 40 minutes later, I returned to my office and still found the document I'd
08:09left on my table.
08:10I then yelled at my secretary, telling her the president had been waiting for the file.
08:15Then she reverted in a cool tone that he had taken it already.
08:24It was a lifetime lesson to learn about the speed with which president Bia handles files
08:30on his table.
08:32The new deal government has been influential in the freedom religion enjoyed by Cameroonians
08:37with hundreds of conventional and spiritual denominations operating without hitch throughout
08:42the country.
08:43Ethiopia's contribution in this religious growth is being applauded by the Metropolitan
08:48Archbishop of Bamenda, His Grace Andrew Kea, and the Council of Imams and Muslim Dignitaries,
08:54Dr. Moussa Oumarou.
08:56Emmanouela Oufemi reports.
08:58Forty-two years of the new deal government through the lens of some religious leaders
09:05is evaluated by the freedom of worship and growth in faith in Cameroon.
09:12The presidency and freedom of religion have made us freely worship.
09:15The president sends his representative to worship with us.
09:19He even assists the pilgrimage to Mecca.
09:22Each time we solicit him, he comes to our aid.
09:25Paul Bia is a great statesman and someone who has a lot of interest in stabilizing his
09:33country.
09:34We have enjoyed relative peace until we started having the incursions of Boko Haram.
09:43The crisis in the northwest and the southwest, this is something very important for our country
09:49and that we must give credit to the head of state.
09:53The church, these leaders say, has received multiple support from the regime but wished
09:58they had had easier access to the president than it is.
10:03One of the biggest challenges we have is accessibility to the head of state.
10:10We should not only get to him through intermediaries and sometimes it is impossible to get access
10:17to the head of state.
10:18He's a good man but those around him should help him also so that he gets access to the
10:24people that need to tell him the realities on the ground.
10:28Forty-two years of stability for the most part, the birth of democracy and lots of achievements.
10:34These church leaders think it is time to consolidate such and make better where necessary.
10:40We need roads.
10:41When roads pass, development follows and I think that after these 42 years, my appeal
10:48to our state will be that focus on the roads with the road network within our country.
10:55Projects they are convinced will develop the church and the country even more.
11:01Apart from taking the country out of an economic recession and prescribing principles and concepts
11:07such as the national development strategy to increase economic progress, Paul B has
11:12also impacted business entrepreneurs out of the country.
11:15The world's richest black person with an extensive business empire, Aliko Dangute,
11:21is one of them.
11:22He now unveils how President Paul B encouraged him to extend his ventures to Cameroon.
11:26Take a listen.
11:28First of all, it is really a great honor and privilege to have met Mr. President, His Excellency.
11:35We had a lot of conversation in terms of our investment in Cameroon and our investments
11:43in Africa generally.
11:46Also, he decorated me with the National Honor Grant of Values.
11:56So that one actually translated into asking us what investments are we making today in
12:02Africa and what are we going to continue to do in Cameroon.
12:06But he was really very, very encouraging, encouraging me to continue to do what we are
12:12doing all over Africa.
12:14So it was really a great meeting.
12:16In Cameroon, we are also looking for other opportunities of which to start exporting
12:21porcelain from here to, you know, Nigeria and most likely Egypt.
12:27You know, we are looking at those opportunities.
12:29We are also looking at the opportunity of agriculture here and also the other area where
12:35we are definitely looking into is the gas-based industries.
12:40Cameroon has a lot of gas reserves.
12:42I've discussed this with Mr. President extensively and he encouraged me that we should continue
12:47to talk to their own, you know, to talk to their government and see how they could help.
12:55And now on to the achievements of the New Deal government.
12:57The Damawa region created in 1983, months after President Pobia took office, is a strong
13:03testimony of the head of state's volition to satisfy the needs of the population.
13:08Today, the region prides itself of a university with a dozen professional schools, interconnectivity,
13:13road and telecommunication systems, as well as energy infrastructure.
13:18Ayub John Ashu reports on these projects.
13:21And more in the Adamawa.
13:25The Sumptuous World Class Referral Hospital at the Bekaa neighborhood of Ngandere, equipped
13:30with state-of-the-art technology, is undoubtedly the umpteenth gift by President Pobia to the
13:36population of the Adamawa region, itself a maiden daughter of the New Deal.
13:42The population has to be reassured that the head of state decided to build another hospital,
13:50knowing that most of the time population from the regions have to travel to the big cities
13:56to get help.
13:57Meanwhile, the University of Ngandere, with its five faculties and five higher institutions,
14:02squarely fits into the New Deal's vision of youth empowerment for posterity.
14:20Over the last four decades, the rich subsoil of the Adamawa region has fully been preserved
14:26and the 42nd anniversary of the New Deal coincides with the delivery of a mining license
14:32to Kamalku for the imminent exploitation fees of the Minimata Bauxite Project.
14:56This is a special category from which a proven oil reserve was defined of over 108 million tons
15:04at 51.1% alumina and 2% silica, which is going to be mined for the next 20 years.
15:12Lejeune warned us, therefore, that it is in calm and pageantry that all the sociological
15:17components of the Adamawa region celebrate the milestone of 42 years of the Bia regime.
15:24And on to one of our top stories.
15:26On a sad note, the mortal remains of Cameroon's renowned Bikutsi artist, Ayidjo Mamadou,
15:31has been coffined at the Yaoundé General Hospital mortuary today.
15:35The singer, who died last September 20, will be remembered for his scintillating tunes,
15:40amongst whom were Amo Espoir, which thrilled music lovers the world over.
15:45Juliana Befolo was there in our reports.
15:49It is not for a musical concert that family, friends and loved ones are gathered
15:54at the Yaoundé General Hospital.
15:56They came to pay their last homage to Mater Magla Meva, a.k.a. Lulion Blanc Ayidjo Mamadou.
16:04The Bikutsi icon will now rest in a coffin shaped like a microphone for all eternity.
16:10His passing leaves loved ones in a wail.
16:15Ayidjo Mamadou knew how to bring warmth to the family.
16:20His departure leaves us empty.
16:24Ayidjo was a friend and brother.
16:26He brought me into the cultural world.
16:29I'm really sad that he leaves me alone.
16:32His artistic family keep the image of a kind man.
16:35Ayidjo was a wonderful creator, but most especially the kind of person who would listen to you,
16:41who would want to talk to you, who would want to lend a helping hand to the young.
16:49All the advice he's given me, I will keep it.
16:54The musician, who is well known for songs like Levin Edwa, Amo Espoir, Action Reaction amongst others,
17:02will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 9th in his native land, Nanga Ebo.
17:09May his soul rest in peace.
17:11Cameroonians will continue to enjoy his tunes in spite of his departure.
17:15And now into echoes of the celebration of the 42nd anniversary of Paul Bia's accession to power in Mayumi Sala.
17:22The supporters gathered around the Minister Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Republic, Samuel Nvondo Ayolo,
17:28and efforts so far made to implement second generation agriculture to ensure food security were praised.
17:35The sympathisers pledged undying support and a 100% ballot for their champion.
17:40Details with Clarence Aze.
17:43Long life, health and prosperity to President Paul Bia,
17:47which is summarised in the performance of the Golden Harp Choir of Mayumi Sala,
17:52created by Honourable Bonaventure Vondawasam,
17:55associated with the international renowned artist George Seba.
17:59The various interventions by the heads of the three basic organs listed the political, administrative,
18:05socio-economic, sporting and cultural achievements of the New Deal government.
18:09They also highlighted initiatives from the Head of State in agricultural domain and food processing to boost the local economy.
18:16The President of the CPDM-GN3 section, Ntutu Bangono,
18:20took the opportunity to remind his fellow party comrades of their duties towards the party in upcoming electoral battles.
18:27The colourful ceremony unfolded under the watchful eyes of the Minister,
18:31Director of the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Samuel Vondo Ayolo.
18:37Still in the South Region, the supporters of Zoetele, a locality where President Paul Bia spent part of his youth,
18:43cherish his development programmes and call for his endorsement as President.
18:47Minister George Ilango Obam, chairing the event and emotional support later tender reassured the people's adherence to Bia's vision.
18:56Clarence Azayi once again with the details.
18:59Supporters of the CPDM from all the 38 sub-sections of the party,
19:03in the Jai and Lobo 2 section converged on the Zoetele ceremony ground to reaffirm the attachment to President Paul Bia
19:11and to celebrate 42 years of great achievement.
19:14We have a lot of affection towards him.
19:17And of course, as the President of the Republic, we have received everything from him.
19:22If we have development, it is because of the President.
19:25If we have democracy, it is because of the President.
19:29A moment for grassroots leaders to reiterate calls for the head of state to be their flag bearer in next year's presidential election.
19:35For the next 20 and 25 presidential elections, I wish that Zoetele is ready and we are together.
19:45The ceremony reaching Pomp and Circumstance ended with the reading of a motion and a support walk to express their unflinching support to the head of state.
19:54And we stay in the south region where the party supporters of Jai and Lobo 6 made public their intention
20:00to give President Bia the chance to bring to completion all the projects he envisages for Cameroon.
20:06In the celebration, chaired by the party delegate, Martial Valérie Zang,
20:10they supported his candidature for the upcoming election.
20:13Gladys Tata has the details.
20:19Celebration of the new Jilinja and Lobo 6, Bengbi's south region of the country,
20:23was occasioned to analyze achievements made by President Paul Bia for over four decades at the helm of the state.
20:29Achievements which CPD and militants, supporters and personalities agree are palpable.
20:34I list some characteristics of our national president.
20:41So the wish of us militants of Bengbis is to ask kindly to our president to accept our proposal that he run again in 2025.
20:57Referring to President Paul Bia as exceptional, they renewed their commitment and loyalty to his ideals,
21:02asking him to be their favorite candidate during the 2025 presidential election.
21:08In the Nyong'o and Seoul, the national chairman of the CPDM,
21:12who has promised access to education and the economic empowerment of women and youth, was held.
21:18The permanent delegation head, Senator Eliane Kungwe-Dima,
21:21underscored their choice for his candidature in the area during the celebration.
21:25Laris Nani reports.
21:29A massive turnout of CPDM supporters from 12 villages in the Misaje subdivision
21:34gathered at the Misaje ceremonial ground to celebrate President Bia's 42nd anniversary as head of state.
21:41They evaluated and appreciated the developmental projects of the New Day government,
21:46including the ongoing ring road construction project, the border market in Sobongida,
21:51the town hall, the Misaje district hospital and the installation of concrete electric pools.
21:57Everybody has come up from all the corners of this subdivision to come to Misaje and celebrate.
22:02Without the peace, nothing can happen.
22:04So we thank God for that and we thank our leaders.
22:06If you look at the population that has attended this day for the celebration,
22:12you will know that President Paul Bia is a leader.
22:16And we vowed that we must always be behind him.
22:19In a festive atmosphere, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Ndunga Maton people,
22:24the CPDM Ndunga Maton's Section 4 militants expressed their support
22:29as a motion is voiced calling on President Bia to stand as their candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.
22:37The celebration concludes with a support march through the streets of Misaje.
22:43And as you must have corrected, that was in the northwest region where the people supported Paul Bia's candidacy in Misaje.
22:50And now on to Kupemanenguba Division.
22:53In Kupemanenguba Division, the population has succeeded to contain separatist actions.
23:00Their choice to stand by Paul Bia, who is a beggar of peace,
23:03was reiterated by the Minister Deputy Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic,
23:08along with Paul Chair, who led the members in the celebration in Tombel.

24:11The event in Tombel was marked by the award of prizes and a trophy
