00:00Like an early Christmas present, Cameroon's parliament gets a brand new National Assembly
00:26complex befitting of a 21st century law-making institution. The ultra-modern facility has
00:32been officially put to use in a grandiose ceremony in Yaoundé today. Cameroon's first
00:39ever intangible cultural element to be inscribed on UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage
00:45of humanity, the Nguon launches 2024 festivities in Fumban. The cultural festival runs till December
00:528, 2024. The indomitable handball lionesses of Cameroon record their third victory at the
01:00ongoing African Women's Handball Cup of Nations in Kinshasa. This follows their 36th to 16th victory
01:08over Uganda today. Hello to all of you watching us from Cameroon and beyond.
01:13Glad to have you on our 7.30 p.m edition. Cameroon's assembly has got an edifice befitting
01:21of a modern house of parliament whose official inauguration today marks a fresh start for better
01:27working conditions for lawmakers in the country. The National Assembly complex is flung open in an
01:34inaugural ceremony chaired by the Right Honourable Kavai Yege Djibio in the presence of the Vice
01:40Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, Zhang
01:46Kingwei. Esther Kima with the details. A magnificent structure inaugurated as a testimony
01:55of the greatness of the relations between Cameroon and China, the ribbon cut to unveil the edifice
02:01that stands tall to embellish the parliamentary landscape celebrates the diplomatic gains
02:06championed by Presidents Paul Biya and Xi Jinping. Prior to the official presentation,
02:13the Right Honourable Kavai Yege Djibio highlighted Cameroon's strong volition
02:18to strengthen cooperation with China that has been unwavering in over five decades.
02:24A commitment appraised by the Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's
02:29Congress of China, His Excellency Zhang Kingwei, witnessed by the most
02:35The Prime Minister who leads the executive in supervising the head of state's vision
02:43to foster win-win cooperation with China in all domains. The specificities
02:51sought after structure hosting a lawmaking institution was outlined by the coordinator
02:56of the follow-up committee, Honourable Theodore Datu. In recognition of the sacrifice and
03:03commitment of the actors involved in the project, nearly 30 lawmakers, Chinese officials,
03:09and parliament workers received distinctions from the states. The National Assembly
03:16is thus set to occupy the magnificent edifice worthy of the House of Law.
03:24They were elated members of the upper and lower houses of parliament that watched their
03:29lawmaking institution open for use at the Ngwakele neighborhood. The people's representatives
03:35are confident that the ultra-modern facility will not only ease their work when parliament
03:40is in session, but will also boost the quality of deliberations and results. At the end,
03:46Clarence Nge captured their reactions in the following report.
03:50A special day for members of parliament like never before as they witness a long-awaited moment,
03:57the official inauguration of their new headquarters this Saturday, November 30, 2024.
04:04The country is evolving. We've moved from the old structure into a new structure. For sure,
04:09the country is also going to move from some ways of looking at life into a new way of looking at
04:18life. Some opine the imposing structure, rare of its kind on the continent, will serve as a booster
04:27for effective results as legislators. You know the environment in which you operate
04:33affects seriously the activities that you carry out. So this edifice, it's going to be an added
04:42booster to the type of debates that we are going to carry. Others indicate it is a solid fruit of
04:50President Paul Pierre's longstanding relations with an old friend, China, and should be jealously
04:56preserved. We want to thank the government of China for this great initiative. And we are
05:04again challenging ourselves that to receive is one thing, but to maintain is the greatest. However,
05:10the new head office of the National Assembly now looks forward to host its occupants at the close
05:17of the ongoing November session holding at the Temporal Site at the Under Conference Centre.
05:25There were lots of side attractions to look out for during the inauguration
05:29of the National Assembly complex today, from ladies seated on bare floor in the scorching sun
05:35to hawkers bringing their goods to potential customers. Musicians of the moment equally
05:42arose singing praises to officials in the bits to get a tip. These and more were captured
05:48by reporter Larry Sinane-Opote.
05:54The dance group not only bring colour and sound to the inauguration ceremony,
05:59but also showcase Cameroon's rich traditional and cultural diversity.
06:04The rhythms from the four corners of the country symbolizes a united people standing together
06:11regardless of their origin.
06:17After hours of performing, the dancers need to recharge. Vendors of soft drinks and other
06:24refreshments are ready to serve them. It doesn't matter to them whether it is sugary, soda, water,
06:31or natural juice. They just want something to quench their thirst.
06:36The drums now doubles as seats, while some prefer the floor. The trees along the stretch
06:42of the National Assembly provide much needed shade under the scorching sun.
06:48Look at this cameraman. His focus is on weavery, capturing every move with room for no error.
06:57Hawkers selling a variety of items like this fish vendor
07:02has seized the opportunity to earn extra cash.
07:09It is a vibrant and colourful atmosphere that has drawn the attention of curious onlookers.
07:16Some pause to watch while others use their phone cameras to capture memories of the day,
07:22perhaps to share later with loved ones seeing I was there live.
07:30The new National Assembly complex inaugurated today is one of the signposts of projects sponsored
07:36by China in Cameroon. It adds to a long list which includes, among others,
07:43the Yaoundé Conference Centre, the Yaoundé Sports Complex, and the energy projects like the
07:48Gado Dam in the north region. Charles Ebune looks at the significance of the
07:53inaugurated complex today in the box of relations between Cameroon and China.
07:59Constructed to the tune of 54 billion CFF francs as a financial gift, the plus 700 seats capacity
08:07new National Assembly complex is the latest Chinese architectural sponsored projects in Cameroon.
08:14I would like to express
08:20members of parliament, staff, users, and visitors make good use and take constant care of it.
08:30The Lion of Asia's total investment in 53 years of cooperation with the Lion of Central Africa
08:36stands at 1,923 billion CFF francs to level up on key infrastructure like the one inaugurated today
08:47with cross-century impacts. It consists of a 526 chamber house, reception rooms,
08:57four commission halls, archives centre, a dispensary, and a gymnasium.
09:03The Yaoundé Conference Centre, the Yaoundé Sports Complex, and health installations
09:10like the Ghana Co-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospitals in Douala and Yaoundé are other
09:16glaring examples of the enduring cooperation between Cameroon and China. The energy sector
09:22like the Labdo Dam in the north, mobility-easing projects like the Douala-Yaoundé Highway remain
09:29signposts of the Yaoundé-Beijing hotline for mutual development. The inauguration of the futuristic
09:36National Assembly building in Yaoundé Cameroon today is a perfect explanation for the raising
09:42of Cameroon-China relations to a comprehensive strategic level recently.
09:49If you're just joining us at the moment, you're on to the 7.30 news on the Cameroon
09:54Radio-Television. Thank you for sticking with us. The new Inspector General in the
09:58Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General Frederic Jeremy Njonkep, has been commissioned into office
10:05with a call to serve with honour and loyalty. He or his official took over or he officially took
10:11over command in a ceremony in Yaoundé presided at by the Minister Delegate at the Presidency
10:17in charge of Defence, Joseph Betiasomo. Kilian Dandiphone completes our story.
10:24The installation of Brigadier General Njonkep Mayomé Frederic as Inspector General of the
10:30Army follows his appointment by the Head of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces
10:35on October 22, 2024. This important decision is a testimony of the firm determination of the Head
10:45of State, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to optimise the efficiency of our defence and
10:52security apparatus to face the ever more pressing and constantly changing security challenges
11:01across the country. According to the presiding Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge
11:06of Defence, it is an honour. Our warm and heartfelt congratulations. The high confidence
11:14that the Head of State, His Excellency Paul Biya, has once again bestowed on him undoubtedly
11:23confirms his merit and dedication to the service of the nation. Before his new position,
11:31Brigadier General Njonkep Frederic had served as Commander of the 4th Joint Military Region in
11:36Marua, 3rd Joint Military Region in Garua, Controller in the General Control of the Army
11:42among many other command posts. He triumphed from the 1984 batch of EMEA graduates.
11:48Baptised November 6, 1982, he takes over from the late Vice-Admiral Guillaume Nguangali.
11:56Hours to the deadline for income declaration for professionals in Cameroon. The taxation
12:02centres in the central region are said to experience a huge influx of those concerned
12:08With the procedure, city dwellers have been trooping in to declare their incomes as taxation
12:13centres have been making exceptions working over the weekend to attend to users ahead
12:18of Monday's deadline. Pelsa has the details. The influx of users on the tax declaration portals
12:27is rendering the service slow and even impossible for some to access just a day before its closing.
12:34In spite of this challenge, the Divisional Taxation Centre for Yawundetu
12:39is making every effort to help city dwellers navigate the situation
12:43and ensure timely registration.
12:48Due to slow portals, we have instructed our
12:55already registered. It is a sigh of relief as they will avoid sanctions from the state.
13:01With help from the workers here, I was able to submit my declaration.
13:06I am happy. I was given my declaration attestation and I've learnt that it's better to do things on
13:12time. The top priority for taxation stakeholders at the moment is to support citizens and ensure
13:19that everyone declares their tax revenue in due time. And we stay in the centre region where we
13:27the Water and Energy Advocates in Cameroon has birthed the maiden edition of the Water and Energy
13:33Exhibition in Yaoundé, bringing together female and male actors in the sector from around the
13:38country. The fair has been showcasing what honesty and intentionality of those in the sector can do
13:44to solve the water and energy crisis in Cameroon. Water and Energy Minister Gaston Elundu-Esomba
13:51has been bringing on board government support, as you tell us, Pelsa.
13:57The three-day Water and Energy Resource Exhibition in Yaoundé is not only a platform for stakeholders
14:04in the sector to network and develop recommendations for improvement, but also
14:09provides opportunity for the public to explore various stands presented by companies concerned.
14:16The place of the public is to come and bring in their own contribution in terms of what they face
14:23and what will be workable possible solutions that will help the current situations that are
14:29going on, because we consider each and every one of us as users of water and energy. We are going
14:37to try to get the public to understand the mechanism through which the importation of
14:41petroleum products, how they take place and how it contributes to development. The sector's
14:46Minister Elundu-Esomba, while launching the event, lauded the initiative which falls in line with
14:53the energy transition drive that initiates the use of wind and solar energy. We hope that this
14:59activity will improve the quality of the services they are giving to the population. It's time to
15:05sensitize all the stakeholders to work together. Women from the organizing association are
15:11optimistic that resolutions will enable them to contribute their own quota in improving the
15:17services of the water and energy resource sector. On to one of our lead stories, it is official up
15:25and running. The 2024 edition of the Nguon festival, the crowd-pulling cultural gathering
15:31of the Bamun people of the west region, has been launched. Activities of the event will run till
15:36December 8th under the chair of the Sultan Nabil Mbombo Njoya. Shivon Boguma reports that this
15:44edition of the Nguon festival is special as it comes after the inscription of the festival on
15:49UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The Sultan of the Bamuns, His Majesty
16:01Muhammad Nabil Forifum Mbombo Njoya is chairing his first ever Nguon cultural festival. The king
16:08has confirmed that preparations are on track for what promises to be a vibrant celebration. Coming
16:15on the heels of its inscription on the UNESCO heritage site, organizers herald a cultural
16:22jamboree with a powerful unifying force bringing visitors from around the globe. Over the next 10
16:29days, attendees can expect a diverse lineup of cultural, spiritual, festive, gastronomic,
16:37and economic activities. Members of the Mbororo Social, Cultural, and Development Association
16:45Buscuda for the Mfwana Famba division have engaged to prioritize the education of Mbororo children
16:52and the acquisition of civil status documents for them. Meeting within their general assembly
16:57in Kola Famba, the new executive bureau was installed and given the mandate to realize
17:03planned objectives. Alphonse Abongwa completes the story.
17:09They are a minority and nomadic group in Cameroon who find a home everywhere. Their economic
17:16aspirations take them too. In the Mfwana Famba division center region, the Mbororo community
17:22counts more than 1,000 persons. The association gets a new executive headed by Alaji Amaduyaya.
17:30The center regional president of Mboskuda, while installing the leadership team,
17:34tasks them to work with local administration and for community growth.
17:52The national president of the association, cognizant of the political calendar of the
17:59country in 2025, engages his members to take their civic responsibility in their hands.
18:06I advise the Mfwana Famba community to go and register in the list, time being to go and vote.
18:18Mboskuda was created in 1992 in Yaounde and works for the socio-cultural
18:24and economic development of the Mbororo community in Cameroon.
18:30It has been 50 years since the special council support fund
18:34for mutual assistance, FECOM, was put into place. Set to be at the fore of local development in
18:41Cameroon, the structure's golden jubilee celebration has been launched in Douala
18:46with emphasis on FECOM as a tool to building national solidarity. What exactly has been
18:52the achievement of FECOM in the littoral region? Skola Maloke attempts an answer.
18:58The special council support fund for mutual assistance, FECOM, has contributed a lot in
19:02improving the infrastructural development and livelihood of the population of the littoral
19:07region. These include the construction of several state-of-the-art council buildings,
19:12provision of portable drinking water, rehabilitation and construction of some schools,
19:17low-cost houses, bridges and street lighting in areas in the region. The conference on the theme
19:24FECOM, a tool for building national solidarity, was organized to launch the institution's golden
19:29jubilee celebration in the littoral. The celebration of the anniversary of the institution is a big
19:37event because it is an opportunity to check what has been done so far and also to look for the
19:47solution of amelioration of what we are doing to improve the conditions of life of our people.
19:57So our ambition is to make all our council for our populations. As the institution prepares
20:05to celebrate its golden jubilee, the regional head for local development at the littoral
20:10governor's office, Gabrielle Dimani-Balawu, moderated the conference, urged stakeholders
20:16to work with FECOM to enable them to achieve their mission. A photo exhibition of some of
20:21the achievements in the littoral region marks the end of day one of the activities ahead of
20:26the jubilee celebration scheduled for December 5. Close to 200 officials of the police corps
20:33in the littoral region have been decorated with epaulets moving them to higher ranks.
20:38The epaulet award ceremony at the Beseke ceremony ground was chaired by littoral governor Samuel
20:45Iwa-Hadiboa. Roseline Fosa has more. In front of the hierarchy, colleagues and family members,
20:53the 195 newly promoted received as tribes enjoy an excitement. 48 deputy superintendents of police,
21:0136 second grade assistant superintendents of police, 48 senior police inspectors,
21:0642 great police inspectors, 19 senior police constable and two second grade police constables
21:13working in Douala, have all been honored for a job well done. Congratulating the promoted,
21:18the governor of the littoral region, Samuel Iwa-Hadiboa, came back to some of the 2024
21:25exploits, including the rapid dismantling of a gang of criminals who stabbed and killed the
21:30French national some weeks ago. Yet emphasis was also laid on the dons amongst which avoiding
21:36drinking spots while on duty, refusing to pay their rent, extorting money from inhabitants and
21:42more. While January efforts, tenacity and discipline are being rewarded, the newly
21:48promoted say the recognition comes with a lot of work and determination. I promise to work hard
21:54every day to secure your goods. We affirm that we are going to work harder to be the
22:04proudest of of police. The appellate award ceremony in Douala the governor sees is a
22:08moment of legitimate pride and should serve as a booster to those yearning to be acknowledged.
22:16On our special health page today we zoom on cholera. The disease has been affecting many
22:22communities that have poor drinking water sources around Cameroon and experts in the health domain
22:30insist that good water or potable water is the only way to stamp out the spread of cholera.
22:37Delphine Kanchoa has more. Cholera continues to devastate communities worldwide claiming lives
22:45and leaving many others scared. The recent outbreak in the far north region of Cameroon
22:50has resulted in 27 confirmed cases with one fatality caused by the bacterium vibrio cholerae.
22:57Cholera is primarily transmitted through contaminated water, food or the environment.
23:05The manifestations of cholera are mainly diarrhea,
23:09abdominal pain, vomiting which leads to intense dehydration. Cholera often referred to as the
23:17dirty hands disease can be fatal but it is treatable if detected early. Cholera is treated
23:24by oral or intravenous rehydration using saline and carbonate solutions in order to restore the
23:32hydroelectric balance of the body. Healthcare experts emphasize that prevention is far more
23:39effective than treatment. The first action is to have access to drinking water. There are also
23:47vaccinations against cholera making it possible to avoid serious forms in case of an epidemic.
23:54Tackling the root causes such as improving sanitation, promoting hygiene education and
23:59increasing access to healthcare is crucial to preventing future outbreaks. Let's now read a
24:06book in this newscast and our pick is The Magic in Communication authored by Max Abayko. The book
24:14is a perfect guide on how to become an excellent communicator. We start with building a good
24:21diction to acquiring a command of the language employed. Clovis Bowie read the book for the 730 News.
24:30The magic in communication dates as far back as his university days. As a student in the
24:36University of Yaounde too, Max Abayko nurtured the desire to see young people like him express
24:42themselves fluently and confidently in the English language. I discovered that many students face
24:49difficulty in communicating, in expressing themselves. You find even master students
24:55unable to construct healthy sentences. I discovered that either in writing or in verba they were unable
25:01to express themselves and they fall back to the pidgin language which is bad. In close to 300
25:07pages the author says the art of communication is guided by principles that go beyond using words.
25:15Magic in communication it means that someone who speaks and his word has effects
25:23in the lives of people. It could either be in writing or it could be verbally. So your words
25:29matters. What are the types of words that you can use in order to cause excitement in a wedding
25:35ceremony and what are the types of words that you can use in a funeral service? For Max when your
25:42communication is sound your promotion is bound and so for anyone having difficulties in taking
25:48control of the stage the book could just be the magic to do the trick. Let's now go over to Istanbul
25:56where Cameroon is selling her potential as an investment destination to Turkish investors
26:03especially in the sectors of agriculture and energy. This is at the ongoing Cameroon Turkey
26:11business forum that is on the sidelines of the 10th world halal summit. The delegation out there
26:18is led by the minister delegate at the ministry of the economy planning and regional development
26:24Paul Tassom from Istanbul in Turkey, Sirin Nwazeki reports. A short thrilling video on projection
26:33at the Cameroon Turkey business forum to capture the attention of Turkish businessmen. The content
26:39has a succinct explanation of business opportunities in Cameroon. Moderating a business platform is the
26:46minister delegate at the ministry of the economy planning and regional development Paul Tassom.
26:52The important thing is that the dialogue should continue but it's not only between governments
26:57but between the private organizations in terms of contracting projects, in terms of agriculture
27:04projects, in terms of industrial projects. We are ready to have partners in Cameroon. The minister
27:11reassured the investors of a favorable business climate in Cameroon. We saw the agricultural
27:20and fisheries integrated import substitution plan of the president of the republic. We
27:28also expected to build partnerships that will help Cameroon turn around one of its key objectives
27:37which is the reconstruction of the three regions of the northwest southwest and far north regions
27:44of our country. A b2b forum that hopes to produce positive results in the nearest future. The
27:51reconstruction plan instilled by the head of state for the northwest southwest and far north regions
27:57where opportunities abound was sold to Turkish investors. And in sports the second edition of the
28:06Chantal Bia national mountain biking competition enters its second day today with the medical
28:14checks and screening for cyclists. Ahead of today's event was the official launching ceremony at the
28:21Bagofid sun city in the east region of Cameroon that was presided at by the minister of sports
28:28and physical education professor Nassis Mwelekombi. Celestine Sumbele of CRTV east with the report.
28:37The central african republic delegation at the second edition of the Chantal Bia national
28:42mountain bike race included the minister of youth sports and civic education Donen Juan Sumon,
28:48Juel Cuemu, minister special advisor to president Duadeira, a member of parliament and six athletes
28:55as guests of honor. Social works are primordial activities to the first lady. She's a kind woman
29:01and a mother who cares for children. We support her moves by participating to this event.
29:07Now we have Cameroon, we have central african republic and we have friends and mostly we have
29:17an international expert. Our task to have the confirmation from the international cycling
29:25union. The minister of sports and physical education professor Nassis Mwelekombi on behalf
29:32of the Cameroon's first lady, sponsor of the event, greets the sporting event which he
29:37characterizes as a true platform of solidarity and fraternity. In the presence of Mr. Amang Jodom
29:44and Jean de Dieu Momo, east governor Grégoire Vongo together opened the living together exhibition
29:50fair. The Sirac ladies on their path seized the opportunity to visit the Bagofid medical center
29:56where thousands of patients receive free health treatment offered by the first lady madame Chantal
30:02Abia. On to one of our headlines to read the Cameroon handball lionesses have secured their
30:10third win at the ongoing african women's handball cup of nations taking place in Kinshasa playing
30:18against Uganda in their third competition outing this afternoon. The handball lionesses imposed a
30:2436 to 16 victory over their opponents with this victory. The handball lionesses have increased
30:30chances to qualify for the next round of the competition. Cameroonian handballer Maripol
30:36Balana was crowned most valuable player of today's match. The next game is scheduled for this Sunday
30:45against Angola. And this advertorial now to end this newscast as the recuperative credit
30:52union limited has officially opened its new branch in upstation Bamenda in the northwest region.
30:59The move according to the board of directors is to better serve and enhance easy access to
31:05the facilities to potential customers from Bamenda. Ola Titaki completes that story.
31:13As the recuperative credit union limited officially inaugurates its newest branch at upstation in
31:22one subdivision the micro financial institution now boasts of over 14 branches across the national
31:30territory. The establishment of this new branch reflects as the recuperative credit union's
31:37mission to meeting the evolving needs of its growing membership which now exceeds
31:4462 000 members. The businesses are all sprouting out here and so why don't we
31:50come out here and make sure that we accompany our members to make them free again
31:56when it comes financially. As the recuperative credit union offers a diverse range of products
32:03and services including local national and international transactions designed to cater
32:10to the varied needs of its members. The credit union is committed to fostering financial
32:17independence among the communities itself. We equally have the universal visa card whereby our
32:28members doing business travel out of it and are able to withdraw money conveniently in whichever
32:33area they are by using the visa card. We have a series of accounts, we have a group account,
32:38we have a minor's account, we have a account whereby members of the can put in their money
32:45and instead of benefiting
32:51the amount of the members and there all the men will benefit on the same day and be reimbursing
32:54their loan monthly. 56 years of existence and a steadfast commitment of financial strength
33:02as the recuperative credit union limited is poised to support its members and contribute
33:09to the economic viability of the region and country at large.
33:18That was Cameroon and the world through the lens of the 7.30 news.
33:22On behalf of the entire crew it is good night from y'all.
