Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed grave concern over the situation in Palestine, commending Egypt’s significant role, along with Qatar and the United States, in working toward a resolution to the humanitarian crisis caused by ongoing aggression from the Zionist regime.
At a joint press conference with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday (Nov 10), Anwar also shared his deep worry over the escalating conflict in Lebanon, which poses a threat to regional stability.
He further expressed his gratitude to El-Sisi and the Egyptian people for their support of Malaysia’s humanitarian efforts for Gaza, noting the considerable challenges posed by Israel’s ongoing blockades and resistance.

00:00Now, I would like to thank you, Mr President, for your personal and also Egyptian support
00:08in our endeavour to support humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
00:13Not easy because of the intransigence and blockade by Israel, but you have personally
00:21interfered on a number of occasions to ensure that there is a smooth flow, including to
00:30allow our military planes to take some of the injured Palestinians to Malaysia.
00:34But, of course, this is small compared to your sacrifice, the sacrifice of the Egyptians,
00:41the Egyptian people, in support of the Palestinian brothers, and particularly Gaza now.
00:49But I have to represent my people, Malaysians, who want to thank you for your support to
01:02ensure that this works.
01:04And of course, you are an important player in trying to get a resolution, a difficult,
01:09complex situation, together with Qatar, United States, Arab League, OIC, and all available
01:19avenues to secure a lasting peace.
01:22Of course, we support the resolution, your leadership in this endeavour, but we are dealing
01:30with a complex situation because of the intransigence and refusal of Israel to concede, even on
01:38humanitarian aid, to the extent that there is genocide in Gaza.
01:42We have taken a very strong position on that, to protest strongly.
01:47In fact, I've promoted the idea of when a country refuses to acknowledge the rule,
01:58resolution, Security Council, United Nations, neighbours, the only option is to expel them
02:06from the United Nations.
02:09There was a position that, of course, we'll have to consider, but I know how complex the
02:15situation is because, Mr President, what you told me is the priority is, of course, ceasefire.
02:22The priority is peace because without that, people will continue to be killed, women and
02:30children being assaulted.
02:32So I share the sentiments with you, but we, of course, we look up to our friends and neighbours,
02:40the Arab neighbours, you and all the Arab countries, which we will certainly deliberate
02:45further tomorrow in Riyadh.
