00:09my delegation, very big delegation, to express our sincere friendship and gratitude to the
00:19wonderful hospitality that you have accorded us.
00:24And we have committed ourselves to enhancing these bilateral relations in trade, investments,
00:31cultural education, scientific research.
00:34And we have started, and thank you for your support with Petronas, and then with Proton,
00:46and your support to us in terms of importing palm oil, and our import of your products,
00:57including food technology.
00:59But I agree with you wholeheartedly that the collaboration must be further enhanced.
01:05Egypt, of course, is a great tradition, history, a large country in Africa, huge and immense
01:15contribution in the past, and we would certainly support your endeavor to consolidate, enhance
01:24your economy, and through bilateral relations, whatever we can do.
01:29We have actually proposed new areas, traditional areas like education through Azhar Sharif,
01:36yes, and also Cairo University and other universities.
01:41I appreciate the effort of Sheikh al-Azhar in the establishment of Arabic Institute in
01:50Kuala Lumpur, and we welcome that, and increasing the number of our students in various fields,
01:57in Islamic sciences, education, in education, in medical sciences, and also in engineering
02:05technology.
02:06We will also participate and collaborate with Egypt in terms of exposing the new areas
02:14of technology, including energy transition and alternative energy, in terms of digital
02:22transformation and semiconductor, because we are quite fortunate, because Malaysia has
02:29emerged to be one of the important semiconductor hubs in the region, and we should be able
02:34to collaborate in this field.
02:37Egypt has, you know, without exaggeration, outstanding role in terms of level of scholarship.
02:47Some of the great scientists and scholars throughout the world are from Egypt, and I
02:57think we should then make full use of it to benefit both our countries.
03:04Now I also thank, and the foreign minister reminded me to make sure that we thank Egypt,
03:11because you are one of the important persons to support our application to be a partner
03:17member of BRICS, and Egypt has again a great tradition of being one of the most profound
03:26voice for Global South.
03:29Those days we called it non-aligned, now Global South through BRICS, and thank you, Mr. President,
03:38for the support, and we have learned a lot from you from the days of non-aligned movement,
03:47and Egypt has always been seen to be one of the leading voice of resilience, independence,
03:54and neutrality, and this is consistent with the ASEAN position.
04:00We call it centrality, we engage with all countries, we are friends with all countries,
04:06but we maintain our independence, and we collaborate with all countries, particularly in terms
04:12of trade investments.
04:14Now as chair of ASEAN next year, of course we will try in our level best to engage, and
04:23to have our colleagues also to engage with Egypt, it's an important player in the region,
04:28and I will certainly do my level best to ensure that ASEAN benefits from its relationship
04:39with Egypt, because you have been a founder of the African Union, and you have an important
04:46voice in this region.
