00:00Qatar says that it will no longer facilitate negotiations between Israel and the militant
00:05group Hamas until the two sides show a sincere willingness to end the ongoing war in Gaza.
00:11In a statement, the Qatari foreign ministry said that it informed both parties 10 days ago
00:16that it would end its efforts if they did not reach an agreement in the current round of
00:20negotiations. Qatar also said that media reports about the future of Hamas' political office in
00:26its capital, Doha, were inaccurate without specifying how. Reports had previously quoted
00:31an anonymous official as saying that the office no longer served its purpose and that it could
00:36be closed. The war in Gaza began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing
00:42around 1,200 people and taking 250 hostages. Israel's military campaign in response has
00:48left more than 43,000 Palestinians dead and has leveled much of Gaza.
