00:00Now buckle up! Are you crazy?
00:02You tell me.
00:03Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:04And today we're counting down our picks for the greatest scenes led by the modern family kids.
00:10Dignitaries, other scientists.
00:13I didn't hear boyfriend.
00:18Number 10.
00:19When they got trapped on an island.
00:21Keep this dry for me pretty.
00:30The family rents a houseboat for prime viewing of the upcoming solar eclipse,
00:34but it isn't long before the oldest of the kids go off on their own.
00:38With the promise of a party on the island, Hayley, Alex, Luke, and Manny set sail,
00:43only to find that they've been lured out there and robbed of their boat.
00:47Anyone have a mirror?
00:49Good idea. We can reflect the sun onto a passing plane.
00:52No, I just have a feeling that my hair looks really good right now.
00:55We get humor and sincerity in equal measure as tiffs break out and heart-to-hearts are had.
01:01I got a splinter in my pinky.
01:03I think we have a time of death on Manuel.
01:05Alex realizes she's scared about her relationship with Ben becoming more serious,
01:10while Manny admits he's nervous about college.
01:12In the end, they're rescued and all's well that ends well, except for Ben.
01:17Oh there's not enough room for all of us.
01:20Well the two of us can stay while you...
01:22I'll come back for you!
01:23Poor guy.
01:24Number nine, the Dunphy siblings party.
01:27I'm checking the pizza guy, the pizza guy, the pizza guy.
01:31His name is Ibrahim.
01:33Don't forget the garlic knots, garlic knots, garlic knots.
01:36In one of the very last episodes of the show, Hayley, Luke, and Alex,
01:40all grown up and with their parents away, decide to throw a party.
01:44You know, to see if they still have it in them.
01:46As it turns out, they might just have a little too much of it still in them.
01:50Hey everybody!
01:57Don't stare at it, put it out!
02:01They're left with quite the cleanup, which they manage to attend to like a well-oiled machine,
02:06until their parents unexpectedly come home early.
02:09It's super sweet to see these three bonding both during the fun
02:13and in the chaos of trying to get away with their secret bash.
02:16These scenes are also a testament to exactly what is achievable
02:20when the siblings work together.
02:21Go, let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go!
02:24Can we hurry it up a little bit?
02:26Come on, get out of here now!
02:28Go, go, go!
02:29Thank you so much, I love you guys so much, bye!
02:32Number eight, Alex's meltdown.
02:34You know I charge the same even if you diagnose yourself.
02:37I'm just trying to move this along, I have a lot to do.
02:40Rarely do we get big Alex moments.
02:42She's the problem solver, the level-headed one, the families rock.
02:46By season five, however, we come to understand just how big the burden is
02:50from this role she's been assigned.
02:52On her 16th birthday, she's so overstrung she completely loses it in front of the family.
02:58I really need to focus.
03:01There is a 16-year-old science prodigy studying cancer research at Johns Hopkins.
03:0516!
03:06What am I doing, I'm eating cake!
03:07No, no, no!
03:10This moment prompts an important message about managing stress and pressure
03:14that is both self-imposed and levied by others.
03:18Alex is so self-sufficient, just sort of put it in cruise control.
03:22I've fallen asleep at the wheel and now my little genius is covered in cake.
03:26Not only is it the standout storyline of the episode,
03:29it also becomes one of the most memorable of the whole show, especially that ending.
03:34Oof.
03:35I had no idea the kind of pressure you're under.
03:38Honey, I was just you for two hours, I could barely hold it together.
03:41I don't know how you don't have a meltdown every day.
03:45Oh, honey.
03:47Number 7.
03:48When Hayley Parented Luke and Alex.
03:51This is an incredibly special episode for the Dunphy kids in particular.
03:55Oh my god, it's Lulu!
03:57She was my favorite toy.
04:04It had been a while since we'd seen some petty sibling quarrels break out,
04:08but this episode sees Luke and Alex going at it.
04:11It may as well be season one again, and honestly, we kind of missed this.
04:16The star of the scene is Hayley, however, who goes from big sister to mom in the blink of an eye.
04:21Break it up!
04:23Luke's not playing fair.
04:24Yeah, well, you make him feel dumb and he acts like it doesn't bother him, but it does.
04:28And Luke, you know better than to mess with someone so uptight.
04:31What do we always say?
04:33Don't break Alex.
04:34And that's more true than either sibling knows.
04:37I'm pregnant.
04:38You're pregnant?
04:39Damn it, Luke!
04:42Wow.
04:44The ensuing exchange feels so authentic to real sibling relationships,
04:48and how this sort of news might come out that we find our hearts squeeze
04:52a little every time we watch this episode.
04:54Number 6.
04:55When Lily Framed Joe
04:57There's no shortage of hysterical Lily snippets on the show,
05:01but it is impressive when she can hold her own against family members who aren't her dads.
05:06So tell me, which one of these is your favorite?
05:09In this episode, Jay and Gloria bring along Joe when they babysit their granddaughter.
05:15After Gloria finds her purse knocked down and her phone broken,
05:18she expects Lily to fess up.
05:20Well, Lily doesn't even hesitate to blame Joe, who can't walk yet.
05:25Not buying it.
05:26Look, you can see the footprints where he walked.
05:29Walk?
05:29Lily, Lily, Lily.
05:31Joe can't walk.
05:32He does for me.
05:34Despite Jay and Gloria's attempts to get Lily to tell the truth,
05:38she sticks to her guns and goes as far as to fabricate evidence for her story.
05:42In the end, though, it's pure luck that corroborates the lie,
05:46and we end on yet another spectacular Lily moment.
05:49Told you.
05:50I'm so sorry that we doubted you.
05:54Boy, did I get lucky.
05:55Number 5.
05:56When Hayley and Alex Babysat
05:59It's New Year's Eve, and Hayley and Alex are put in charge of Luke, Manny, and Lily.
06:03Are you ready for your big sleepover with your cousins?
06:06Who's watching me?
06:08Hayley.
06:09I'm serious.
06:10Alex.
06:11Okay, let's go.
06:13You'd expect Lily to be the handful here,
06:15but she ends up entertaining herself by playing dress-up.
06:18Instead, it's Luke who proves to be the troublemaker of the night
06:21when he invites two girls over to hang out with him and Manny.
06:25What do you want?
06:26You have to keep your door open.
06:28Why?
06:29Why do you need it closed?
06:30Because we're gonna make out.
06:31Oh, um.
06:33After Luke brings his new friend up to his room,
06:36and doesn't even try to beat around the bush about what he'll be getting up to,
06:39Hayley swiftly turns into her mom.
06:42Wait, why does she have to go?
06:44Because I said so.
06:45You're not the boss.
06:46Don't talk back to your sister.
06:47Oh, I hate you.
06:49You hate me now, but someday you'll thank me.
06:51She and Alex continue to intrude throughout the night,
06:55which makes for some hilarious and endearing moments that take the cake for the episode's
06:59best scenes.
07:00I'm coming in.
07:02What are you doing?
07:02Just putting away some laundry.
07:05That's a bra and a tablecloth.
07:07Number four.
07:08When Manny and Luke stole Cam's car.
07:11Even with Hayley and Phil's strong storyline in this episode,
07:15Luke and Manny's antics undoubtedly steal the show.
07:18Woo!
07:18Woo!
07:26Manny is having trouble getting a girl he likes to notice him,
07:30so when Cam pays the boys to wash his car,
07:32Luke decides he's had enough of hearing Manny complain.
07:36What are you doing?
07:37I'm sick of hearing you whine about Miranda.
07:39It's time to make her notice you.
07:41But we can't.
07:41We got a full tank of gas and she's right down the block.
07:44Now buckle up.
07:45Are you crazy?
07:46You tell me.
07:47The two take the car down the street to see Manny's crush,
07:50and the scene is every bit as hilarious as it sounds.
07:53While Miranda may not seem to think it's as cool in reverse,
07:57we personally think it's even cooler.
07:59Uh-oh, dead end.
08:01You gotta make a u-ey.
08:02I don't know how to do that.
08:11Number three.
08:12Do you know where babies come from?
08:14With all the adults out of the house for Hayley's 21st birthday,
08:18Alex, Luke, Manny, and Lily are left to entertain themselves at the Dunphy residence.
08:23Lily becomes an absolute menace as she bothers everyone with the big question
08:27that kids inevitably wonder the answer to at one point or another.
08:32Hey guys, do you know where babies come from?
08:34Lily, that's not an appropriate question.
08:36Come on, do you know or not?
08:38Yes, the stork brings them.
08:40This stork?
08:41Things derail from here, with Luke and Manny arguing about how best to explain things to Lily
08:46and totally losing the plot midway through.
08:49Come on, sexy.
08:50Don't be like that.
08:52Make a baby with me.
08:54What is going on in here?
08:55Nothing.
08:56By the end though, everyone spared a little awkwardness when it turns out Lily already knows.
09:02That's why you asked if we knew where babies came from?
09:04Because you wanted to tell us?
09:06Yeah, you're old.
09:06You should know.
09:08But you might want to sit down for this.
09:12Number two.
09:13When Lily swore in the middle of a wedding.
09:16I have two children.
09:21Lily has a swearing problem, but only because Cam can't stop laughing whenever she does.
09:26The situation becomes more urgent when the family is invited to a wedding,
09:30and Lily is appointed flower girl.
09:32Despite Cam and Mitch's efforts to get her to stop, Lily catches Cam crying at the wedding.
09:37Thinking he's sad, she tries to cheer him up by doing something she knows
09:41for certain will get him to laugh.
09:43Daddy, daddy.
09:54Not only does she steal all the attention at the ceremony,
09:57but the event is undeniably the showstopper of the episode too.

10:17Number one.
10:18When the Dunphy kids walked in on their parents.
10:21This sequence might just be the most unforgettable in the entire series.
10:25It's Claire and Phil's anniversary, so the kids try to surprise them with breakfast in bed.
10:31Okay, ready?
10:32One, two, three.
10:35No!
10:39Well, let this be a lesson to always knock and wait for a response before you open
10:43someone's bedroom door. The siblings quickly flee the house to avoid an awkward chat,
10:48and it's here on a gas station bench that they actually manage to find
10:52the positive in this whole situation.
10:54Half of my friend's parents are divorced.
10:56Mine too.
10:57It's insane.
10:59So it's a good thing mom and dad still do sex.
11:02Not only is it brilliant acting, especially considering how young the kids were here,
11:07but the writing is excellent and as funny as ever.
11:10Did you guys notice that dad had the same look on his face as when he smells a new car?
11:16Which modern family scene with the kids always makes you laugh? Let us know in the comments.
11:21Poor Hayley, what is she going to do with all those boys?
11:25I'll be with him, oh that midnight train.
