00:00Yeah, 100% sure you're not a lefty.
00:04Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most hilarious scenes
00:08from Modern Family that were sadly left on the cutting room floor.
00:12Oh, hello Jenny.
00:13It's Lily.
00:1510.
00:16Manny Fears a Life of Celibacy
00:19Season 4
00:20Manny's relationship with his stepdad Jay became a little complicated when his baby
00:25brother Joe was born.
00:27It's been in my family for five generations.
00:29Okay.
00:30I'll walk you out, buddy.
00:32Is anything in her family new?
00:35Just you.
00:36This scene perfectly encapsulates that tension.
00:39Jay walks into Joe's room, where Manny is hiding, and starts daydreaming about Joe
00:43becoming a baseball star.
00:45Joe, Pritchett, Pritchett, Pritchett.
00:47Joe's dad Jay's in the stands, must be mighty proud of his boy.
00:50It's every dad's dream.
00:52You understand how that makes me feel like a giant disappointment to you?
00:55See, Manny gets a little green with envy.
00:57And why is he hiding in Joe's room?
00:59Oh, just dodging his grandma who wants him to become a priest and remain celibate for
01:03life.
01:04The scene is so well-structured that after Jay quips that Manny is already on that path,
01:09perfectly timed laughter filters in from another room, like a live studio audience eating up
01:14the brutal roast.
01:15I'm not living a life of celibacy.
01:17You're living it right now.
01:199.
01:21Cam is Tony Soprano
01:22Season 4
01:24In the fourth episode of Season 4, Cam lands a gig as a music teacher in Luke and Manny's
01:28school, and let's just say, it didn't quite hit the right notes.
01:33This is how we learn to sing, who can go up here with me?
01:41Cam took a job teaching music at the local middle school.
01:44The show seems to have shot multiple versions of the scene that closes out the cold open.
01:49In this unaired version, Cam decides to rehearse for the job at the worst possible time, right
01:54when Mitchell is trying to sleep.
01:56Of course, he wouldn't be completely prepared without a few terrible jokes up his sleeve.
02:01Here, he's rocking a bowling shirt straight out of Tony Soprano's closet, which, yes,
02:06doubles as a music pun.
02:07Why are you wearing that shirt?
02:08Oh, it's my outfit for tomorrow.
02:10I'm Tony Soprano.
02:15No wonder the job didn't go so well.
02:17I have this whole thing planned.
02:18Okay, I'm going to walk in, take off my jacket, and say, here comes trouble.
02:21Number 8.
02:22The ABCs of Salesmanship, Season 1
02:25We've all heard the famous ABCs of Sales speech courtesy of Alec Baldwin's tough-as-nails
02:30character in 1992's Glengarry Glen Ross.
02:33A always B B C closing.
02:36Always be closing.
02:38But what if we told you they didn't just stop at the letter C?
02:41That's right.
02:42The real ABCs of Salesmanship, as Phil so eagerly points out in the scene that aired,
02:47go all the way to W.
02:50Always be closing.
02:51Don't ever forget.
02:52Great home ideas just keep lurking, mostly nearby.
02:55Often people question realtors' sincerity.
02:57Take Umbridge.
02:58Violators will.
02:59Although Phil is completely stumped on X, in this deleted bit, he actually gets to the
03:04end of the alphabet, albeit by using the one X word that everyone knows.
03:09That's his secret to selling anything… unless, of course, Violators xylophone that fur coat.
03:15Xylophone your zone.
03:17Boom.
03:18That's how you sell a house.
03:19Number 7.
03:20Cam's undying love for Meryl Streep.
03:23Season 1.
03:24In the second episode of the show, Cam and Mitchell take Lily to a playgroup, only to
03:28discover the other kids are light years ahead of her.
03:31One standout scene featured Cam's hilariously awkward attempt at small talk with one of
03:36the moms.
03:37Things go south fast when she casually expresses her displeasure with Meryl Streep's performance
03:42in Mamma Mia.
03:43I don't know that Meryl Streep was the right choice.
03:46What did you think?
03:48Excuse me.
03:49Meryl Streep could play Batman and be the right choice.
03:52In an extended version of the scene, the mom goes on to slam the bridges of Madison County,
03:58which as Cam points out, is one of his all-time favorites.
04:01Uh, uh, uh.
04:04Even worse than Bridges of Madison County.
04:06One of my favorites.
04:10Even worse, she suggests that the Meryl Streep should do more commercials.
04:15If there weren't kids around, that woman would have received the verbal smackdown of
04:19her life.
04:20Oh, I love Brooke Shields.
04:23I love her commercials.
04:25Meryl Streep should do commercials.
04:26I'd probably like her.
04:28Number 6.
04:29Mitchell would have liked to be asked.
04:31Season 4.
04:32There's a strange satisfaction in being considered for something, even when you know you don't
04:36want that thing at all.
04:38That's the exact feeling at the center of this deleted scene from Season 4, in which
04:42Mitchell finds out that Jay asked Claire to take over his closet company.
04:46Jealousy is such a wasted emotion.
04:48Okay, wait.
04:49You gotta block me from Dad.
04:50He asked me to take over his company.
04:52You?
04:53Why you?
04:54Now, Mitchell has absolutely no interest in the job, but he's still quite annoyed that
04:58Jay didn't even bother offering it to him, especially since Claire doesn't seem all that
05:03keen either.
05:04Your sister's avoiding me.
05:05You know anything about it?
05:06I don't know.
05:07You're gonna have to ask her yourself.
05:08Although if she is, that's not exactly a good leadership quality.
05:12When Mitch finally brings it up to Jay, he's more than happy to smugly reject the offer,
05:17after Jay throws it his way.
05:18You don't want to work for me.
05:20How do you know?
05:21You never asked me.
05:22Do you want to?
05:23I'm sorry.
05:24I'm gonna have to say no.
05:28Number 5.
05:29Sal the Interrupter.
05:31Season 4.
05:32In the seventeenth episode of Season 4, Cam and Mitchell's old party friend Sal pops up
05:37out of nowhere, asking them to be the best men at her wedding.
05:41But what we see on screen doesn't quite capture her full history of chaotic drop-ins.
05:46We've kind of gone in different directions.
05:48We chose forward.
05:49And this one's to Lily from Santa.
05:51Hey guys!
05:52I wonder...
05:53Can you help me find my car?
05:56This deleted scene shows Cam and Mitchell lamenting about how Sal has remained stuck
06:00in her old ways, and the lingering effect it has on them.
06:04What we'll miss most about Mrs. Coe was the way she...
06:06Let's get this started!
06:07Oh no, I didn't bring enough!
06:09There's so many people here!
06:14From crashing their Christmas family time to rudely interrupting a funeral, Sal has
06:18gone from being their fun-loving partner in crime to a relentless pain in their behinds.
06:23But isn't that what all friends eventually become?
06:26Guess who's not pregnant?
06:28Yoo-hoo!
06:29Phew!
06:30Ooh!
06:31Ice, ice, ice, ice!
06:32We have gotten better about keeping our door locked.
06:34Number 4.
06:35Meant to Be Together.
06:37Season 2.
06:39Despite their rollercoaster relationship and constant breakups, Hailey ultimately marries
06:43Dylan and starts a family with him.
06:45Dylan?
06:46God, I miss you too.
06:49Oh, it's just a cold, silly.
06:52You don't have to conceive of a world without me.
06:55But their eventual union might have been hinted at way back in Season 2 in this deleted scene.
07:00After clear events about wanting Hailey to date anyone but Dylan, Phil casually suggests
07:06that they're destined for each other.
07:08He even compares their relationship to his and Claire's, an idea Claire immediately shoots
07:13down.
07:14You never know.
07:15Maybe those two were meant to be together, like we were.
07:18Honey, Hailey and Dylan are not us.
07:21Yet mere seconds later, Claire witnesses an interaction between Hailey and Dylan that
07:26feels all too familiar.
07:28It's almost as if the writers knew where they were heading the whole time and just toyed
07:32with us for fun.
07:33What are you doing?
07:34Shh, shh.
07:35One of the smoke alarms went off.
07:36I'm trying to figure out which one.
07:37Well, if anyone can find it, it's you.
07:39Number 3.
07:40Phil is chased by two kids.
07:42Season 1.
07:43Phil's brilliant plan to teach Luke a lesson about responsibility by stealing the bike he
07:47just bought him ends up backfiring spectacularly.
07:50Turns out, Luke never lost his bike, and Phil had just stolen some poor random kid's ride
07:55instead.
07:56I figure I'll just dump the new bike where I stole the first bike.
08:00That way random kid gets his back, and this new bike doesn't raise a lot of embarrassing
08:04questions.
08:05In an attempt to sneak back the stolen bike, however, he is caught by the rightful owner
08:09and ends up in a footrace with two angry children.
08:13While the show leaves us at the chase, this extended version of the scene shows that the
08:17kids actually outrun Phil, catch up to him, and tackle him to the ground.
08:21Well, I was giving it back.
08:26Safe to say, Luke won't be learning any lessons on strength and endurance anytime soon.
08:31Get off of me.
08:32I gave it back.
08:33I was giving it back.
08:34I don't care.
08:35I'm a good person.
08:36Number two, Luke's failed pitches.
08:41Season one.
08:42After Manny excels at fencing, Phil and Claire scramble to find something Luke might also
08:47be a prodigy at.
08:48With so many options to consider, they settle on baseball because how hard could throwing
08:53a ball be, right?
08:54Feels right, buddy.
08:55I'm telling you, this feels right.
08:56What are you guys doing?
08:57Pursuing excellence.
08:58We made a list of areas the boy might excel at, and baseball.
09:03Love it.
09:04Claire takes Luke out for a pitching session, only to realize that Luke's pitching skills
09:08are, well, nonexistent.
09:11Each failed throw leads to Phil slowly realizing that they might have picked the wrong sport.
09:16Very, very, very, very good first hour.
09:19Toss me your glove.
09:20I'll put some oil on it.
09:25The aired scene leaves out several of Luke's tragic attempts, including the hilarious moment
09:30when Phil desperately tries to figure out what kind of batter Luke thinks he's aiming
09:34for.
09:35How tall is this batter?
09:37Um, tall.
09:40Like 20?
09:41Uh-huh.
09:4220 feet?
09:43Yeah.
09:44Let's make him, just for funsies, let's make him four feet tall.
09:48Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
09:53Questionable lyrics, season three.
09:55Cam remains clueless that his lyrics scared off the surrogate.
09:58My singing was so moving that it awakened something in her.
10:02You don't think that maybe the lyrics might have been half the problem?
10:05I could have sung the bone book.
10:07We weren't getting that baby.
10:08Air quotes, season two.
10:10Phil's use of quotes in an ad quote-unquote humiliates Claire.
10:15It said we were happily married.
10:16No, honey, it said we were happily married, quotes included.
10:20They were for emphasis.
10:21Yes, well, I was humiliated.
10:23I'm sorry.
10:24Lily has no empathy, season six.
10:27Lily's littering sparks this brilliant throwback to the 70s anti-pollution ad.
10:31You cut yourself.
10:32Hey, don't get blood in my eggs.
10:36We're getting concerned that Lily hasn't developed an adequate sense of empathy.
10:39In so far as she doesn't have any at all.
10:42Cam makes up for lost sleep, season three.
10:45Cam dozes off after pulling an all-nighter searching for Lily's missing bunny.
10:48Lost her best friend and her compadre bunny.
10:53And that, in turn, kept us happy, so.
11:01Slumber party turned sour, season three.
11:04Cam and Mitch are thrilled to move in with Jay and Gloria, until they start butting heads.
11:10Oh, that's a first.
11:13The trick is to not give them any choices, just tell them what to eat.
11:17Oh, well, that's a helpful tip.

11:37Teamwork does not make the dream work, season three.
11:40In some ways, Cam and Mitch are like peanut butter and jelly.
11:44They're great together, but not exactly smooth in every situation.
11:48They're kind of like a first date.
11:50Actually, no, they're the exact opposite of a first date, because you don't want to have
11:54sex, but you do want a baby.
11:57Remember our first date, when you still agreed with things I said?
12:00Sure, they make a solid couple, but teamwork is just not their strong suit.
12:05In this deleted scene, for example, they attempt styling Lily's hair in a bid to impress a
12:10potential birth mother.
12:11However, as they're too busy talking over each other, they end up producing a completely
12:16disjointed result, just as they brag about their amazing collaboration.
12:20Dad, you did it again!
12:23Brains!
12:26It happens a lot.
12:28Unsurprisingly, they later blow it with the birth mother, too, after going in completely
12:33different directions in an attempt to reassure her.
12:36Baby, please don't go.
12:37I'm just gonna be a minute.
12:40You'll take away the biggest part of me.
12:41I love you, too.
12:44He doesn't get it.
12:45Nope.
12:46You don't get it.
12:47Which of these deleted or extended scenes would you have loved to see make its air?
12:51Let us know in the comments below.
12:53I don't understand most of what you say.
12:57It's like talking to Gloria, but without the accent, and a lot less fun, to be honest.
13:02Do you agree with our picks?
