00:00It's some kind of suit that Adrian has built, and it has cameras, and it was about... what?
00:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most haunting,
00:13creepy, and or gruesome deaths in movie history.
00:21Some spoilers ahead for the following movies.
00:2410. Bee Stings – My Girl
00:27In this drama, Veda Soltenfuss and Thomas J. Sennett are inseparable friends.
00:35The latter goes back to the woods to find a ring and encounters a beehive.
00:39With a bad allergy, the boy tragically dies after a swarm of bees stings him.
00:43It's nothing short of a tragic end for the young character. You'd never expect a character played
00:48by Macaulay Culkin to die in such a graphic way, especially in a 90s coming-of-age movie.
00:54While the film cuts away, it does show the main character's emotional reaction to the news.
01:12The funeral scene alone will have you bawling your eyes out.
01:16If you saw this one as a kid, you're probably still traumatized by Thomas J.'s death.
01:299. Head Smash – Pants Labyrinth
01:32The villain of this Guillermo del Toro film is the brutal Captain Vidal.
01:47When facing down several prisoners, he doesn't hold back his contempt for them.
01:52This includes the antagonist savagely beating one man's face to a pole,
01:56symbolizing the horrors of the Francoist government.
02:10Vidal's tyrannical streak is nothing short of terrifying.
02:14It's so disturbing that you'll likely have to look away at several points.
02:18Del Toro utilizes the R rating to depict evil incarnate,
02:22with the officer continuing his reign of terror by firing his weapon.
02:26Even though Pants Labyrinth is part fantasy,
02:29this particular death shows that the movie can also be all too real.
02:398. Buried Alive – Buried
02:42Paul Conroy finds himself in a nightmare scenario when he's buried alive.
02:46The truck driver realizes he's being held for ransom,
02:49spending the rest of the film trying to get help.
03:00There's hope for the hero until the shocking and cruel twist at the end.
03:04Conroy's potential rescuers dig in the wrong spot and can't save him in time.
03:12If you're claustrophobic, this finale only makes everything that much scarier.
03:24The main character is then left to suffocate with no hope for his survival.
03:28If you're hoping for a fairy tale end to this thriller,
03:31you'll instead be greeted by a bleak and disturbing conclusion.
03:367. Bear Burning – Midsommar
03:39This isn't exactly what you'd call an ideal vacation.
03:49Midsommar finds Danny and Christian in a pagan village,
03:52torn apart by the creepy and deadly traditions they find there.
03:56The main character's boyfriend is paralyzed and placed in a bear skin.
04:00His girlfriend then chooses whether or not to sacrifice him,
04:03letting him burn in a scary ceremony.
04:108. Ari Aster – The Fall Out Of This Death
04:18Talk about a terrible way to go.
04:20Not only does the victim have to be rendered motionless,
04:23he has to be lit on fire as his lover watches.
04:26Ari Aster's horror film doesn't hesitate to push the envelope.
04:30In the final seconds, the heroine's facial expressions
04:34leave us with an uneasy feeling as we consider the fallout of this death.
04:406. Mellish's Final Stand – Saving Private Ryan
04:55Being a graphic depiction of World War II,
04:58Saving Private Ryan is full of deaths that'll have you devastated.
05:02The final battle includes many violent ends to a squad we've come to know and love.
05:07Stanley Mellish helps man a machine gun,
05:10but a German soldier ends up overpowering him and getting ahold of his knife.
05:14The enemy slowly presses down on the weapon as he stabs Mellish.
05:22It's an incredibly tense scene, with the ally of him unwilling to help out his squadmate.
05:27It hurts even more knowing that this death could've been avoided
05:30altogether with some reinforcements.
05:32Steven Spielberg shows you the effects of close quarters combat,
05:36not holding back as he reveals the horrors of war.
05:455. The Restaurant Knife – The Invisible Man
05:56After her abusive partner seems to die, Cecilia worries that he might still be around.
06:01She then reveals this theory to her sister Emily at a restaurant.
06:05It turns out that an invisible man is following the heroine,
06:08attacking the latter's sibling in a sudden and violent turn.
06:16A floating knife seems to slice the guest's neck and land in Cecilia's hand.
06:20The villain frames his target for a ghastly murder,
06:23sending the character into a full-blown breakdown.
06:26It's a terrifying and surprising death that's bound to linger in your brain.
06:30Not only is it awful to watch the family member die,
06:33it's even worse to see it all pinned on the innocent woman.
06:424. Under Pressure – License to Kill
06:54While every James Bond film is violent to some degree,
06:57License to Kill isn't afraid to up the ante.
07:00The secret agent plays his enemy against each other in this 1989 entry.
07:05After making it look like villain Milton Kress stole money from Fran Sanchez,
07:09the latter shows how ruthless he can be.
07:11The drug lord then makes Kress' head burst in a decompression chamber.
07:22Bond movies don't often venture into the horror genre,
07:26but this moment could easily qualify with its scary effect.
07:29The victim's face splatters onto the window in one of the goriest deaths of the franchise.
07:34With an intense lead-up, the final result reminds you how diabolical Sanchez really is.
07:463. Shower – Psycho
07:48Marion Crane steals some money from work and runs away,
07:51but little does she know what's in store for her.
07:54The scene in a Bates Motel bathroom starts off normal enough until it's completely frightening.
08:05While taking a shower, Crane gets stabbed by Norman Bates.
08:08Alfred Hitchcock turns this iconic death into an unforgettable and expertly edited sequence.
08:19You never see the knife strike the character,
08:21but the intense moment feels like one of the most violent scenes ever.
08:25It's hard to watch this and not reconsider taking a shower ever again.
08:30If all these elements aren't enough,
08:32Bernard Herrmann's score terrifies with his strange compositions.
08:442. The Mentis and the Tree
08:46Furiosa – A Mad Max Saga
08:51As a prequel to A Mad Max Fury Road,
08:54this movie delivers an epic tale about the title character's origins.
08:58Furiosa's revenge story to kill her mother's killer ends in an unexpected way.
09:08She captures the Mentis, tortures him, and then grows a peach tree out of his body.
09:13It's certainly a unique punishment, but one that's certain to cause some nightmares.
09:17The reveal of the villain's new form puts some horror films to shame.
09:21Director George Miller could have given the heroine and her enemy a more traditional fight,
09:26but this complicated and disturbing finale seems more fitting for the series.

09:541. Kane's Last Meal – Alien
10:01An encounter with a facehugger leaves Kane unconscious,
10:04but he seems to be okay during this scene.
10:07That all changes after the character starts to have an unexplained episode.
10:11His crewmates are worried and so are we, unsure of what will happen next.
10:15The crew's worst fears come true as their friend's chest bursts open.
10:28It's among the most disgusting and sickening deaths ever, with the young xenomorph escaping.
10:33Anyone afraid of blood or gore will have a tough time with this moment, but then again,
10:38the rest of the film doesn't offer much relief.
10:41It's easily one of the most iconic scares in sci-fi history.
