Many local councils are in financial trouble, with some even declaring bankruptcy. How do you feel about the state of your local council, and what impact are you seeing on local services?

00:00I think the problem all local councils face, including Bristol, is that 70% of their budget
00:08is just going to disappear.
00:09Many local councils are in a bit of financial trouble and some have even declared bankruptcy.
00:14How do you feel about the state of your local council?
00:17I don't know too much about its finances really, so I'm always thinking they're short of cash
00:24probably, but I don't really think about the council's cash flow.
00:29So I think unless central government really steps up to cover those sort of costs, the
00:36local councils are always going to be really struggling to do anything significant.
00:42Have you seen impact in local services?
00:44Some people have said that there has been improvement in things like bus services or
00:48road quality.
00:49I would say that an environment like this has been an improvement.
00:54I've no idea how much it costs, probably an excessive amount, but it's certainly improved
00:58the local environment.
