The Commonwealth Government has given Lake Macquarie City Council an extra $6.6 million boost for local road upgrades.

00:10challenges and one of the most common ones is the state of roads and footpaths in our
00:15community.
00:16We're a growing community and people want quality of life and that's why I'm delighted
00:20to announce today with Adam Schultz, Mayor of Lake Macquarie City Council, a 75% increase
00:26in federal funding for Lake Macquarie City Council through the Roads to Recovery program.
00:31We're standing here on Elizabeth Parade and you just have to look around to see the need
00:35for repairs to this road and better drainage.
00:38The next five years, this funding that the federal government has provided will be able
00:42to be prioritised for roads that need to be rehabilitated.
00:47As you can see here in Elizabeth Parade, we've got road rehabilitation, we've got new drainage
00:54and we've got beautiful new footpaths.
