Former homeless man Chris Cooper is doing a three-day sleep-out around Wolverhampton to raise awareness about homelessness.
Transcript
00:00Okay then Chris, so you're doing a charity sleep out for three nights around Wolverhampton.
00:05You're doing it for the Good Shepherd, aren't you?
00:08The Good Shepherd and the Wolves Foundation.
00:10Right, right. So you were actually homeless, weren't you, for six months, is that right?
00:14Yeah, I was an alcoholic and a drug user myself 14 years ago. I've been clean since.
00:22But I want to put all my support back into getting other homeless people off the streets.
00:27So what help do you think this will do?
00:31All the money that's raised will go to the Wolves Foundation, to go to the Good Shepherd.
00:36And then the Good Shepherd does a lot of work with the homeless.
00:40They get breakfast clubs, they feed them, they get support in getting rehabbed and stuff like that.
00:47So you've already done one night, haven't you, in Wolverhampton?
00:51Yeah, I've done one night last night. It was warm but it was a bit wet.
00:56Yeah, it must be the rain that's awful, really.
01:00Yeah, to be honest, we've not had much rain, which is thankful.
01:07Homeless people have to face it most of the time.
01:11And when you're wet and cold, it's even worse.
01:14Yeah, absolutely. And you're doing the modelling you sleep out tonight, is that right?
01:19Modelling you sleep out tomorrow night.
01:21So where are you tonight? You're back in Wolverhampton City Centre.
01:25I'll be round the city centre again for another night.
01:27Yeah, yeah. OK then, mate.
01:29Well, all the best anyway.
01:31Fingers crossed you'll raise a lot of awareness, do you?
01:34Thank you very much.
