00:00Now the wind is really picking up as forecast and that's going to pose problems for the
00:07firefighters out there on the fire field.
00:09That fire is still not under control and they're going to face a lot of challenges in what
00:15is really, really difficult terrain, thick bushland, inaccessible country.
00:22And the intensity of the fire that we saw yesterday, we hope we don't see a repeat today,
00:27but the intensity was really quite something and I did speak to Peter Irving who's the
00:33group officer with the Eden Hope Fire Brigade and he described just how ferocious the fire
00:38was.
00:39I've seen plenty of fires like that but the thing about it yesterday that struck me the
00:46most was how quick it ran through the bluegums and then once it got into Crown, how dry the
00:54Crown forests were, the spots were just lighting up as quick as they hit the ground.
01:01So this weekend, Saturday, Sunday coming, we have another couple of warm days and windy
01:06weather before that so it's going to be imperative for the firefighters to do what they can to
01:12get on top of this fire before that warm weather arrives but as I said, it's a real challenge
01:16because of the terrain, the inaccessibility of it, they've got a lot of difficulties in
01:22front of them.
