A 61-year-old factory manager is feared to have drowned after slipping into Sungai Pengkalan along the riverbank at Taman Persisiran Sungai in Alor Gajah, Melaka on Sunday (Nov 17).

00:25The 61-year-old man from Shah Alam had been in the area for a wedding and was staying
00:30at a relative's house.
00:32A caller had informed officers that the victim left the house alone to buy food at 1.50 am
00:38but became uncontactable.
00:40Concerned, his family searched several locations and eventually found his car parked near the
00:46public toilet at the recreational park.
00:48The locked toilet and the victim's belongings left in the car raised alarm.
00:52Footage from the car's dashboard camera showed the victim pacing outside the toilet, which
00:57was inaccessible due to its doors.
01:00Further investigation led rescuers to discover a pair of slippers along the riverbank believed
01:06to belong to the victim, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.
01:11Despite scouring the river and nearby recreational areas, no trace of the victim has been found.
01:18The search effort has since been bolstered by a search dog unit.
01:22The search operation is ongoing.
