A mum-of-eight reveals how just spends just $12k-a-year on her food shop - and still cooks dinner for her adult children.

Heather Bell, 53, and her husband, Luke, 51, had tried for a baby for eight years when they adopted their eldest son, David, 24.

The couple decided to help others and gave fostering a go - going on to then adopt Robert, 23, Joshua, 22, Hailey, 22, Brendon, 21, Izzy, 18 and Noah, 17.

They were also lucky enough to naturally conceive, Gideon, 20.

00:00Here's what Christmas dinner looks like for our family of 10. I started by making Brennan's favorite
00:04Which is corn casserole and then our first dessert was a fruitcake monkey bread
00:09Got that cooking then whipped up the funeral potatoes because Robert loves them. The fruitcake was done

00:23Isabella was in charge of our BSB farm doubled eggs, and then I made a Christmas fruit pizza

00:49Here's how our family of 10 gets ready for New Year's Eve. We start by getting our appetizers going early
00:54I was in charge of the little smokies and then Izzy asked if she can make my dad's famous dip
00:59It's just Velveeta burger some spices and Rotel Haley made her famous buffalo chicken dip, which we absolutely love

01:08She also made a 2024 cheese bread that has mozzarella and little pepperonis inside and she drizzles garlic butter on top
01:15And then my niece was in charge of the Baja corn casserole
01:18Izzy got that stirred up and she also made a wonderful
01:21Greek layer salad after we got that done
01:24It was time to get my charcuterie ball going once everything was completely cooked
01:29We laid it all out on my 12-foot counter took off the lids to enjoy
01:34Now it's time for our family of 10 to bring in the new year. Happy
01:402024 it's time for our monthly grocery haul for our family of 10. I always start in the dairy department
01:46I got yogurts for smoothies and for dad to snack on at night
01:49I also picked up creamers for our coffee milk for the boys
01:53I needed more butter juice for the morning after I got all of my dairy stuff
01:57It was time to move on to lunch meats and cheeses
02:00I grabbed some cheeses for our weekly meals and then now my boys are back to work because the weather has been so nice this
02:06Winter so I had to grab things for lunches once that was done. It was to finish off in the veggies and the fruits
02:11I'm trying to bring more whole foods into our meals and I'm trying to lose some weight
02:16So bring on the salads after I got all my veggies in the cart
02:19It was time for the fruits and Meijer always has sales on fruit. I love it so much
02:24Well, I got my cart filled up headed home and I got my fridge filled up, too
02:29Our summer has been so busy that I have not gone grocery shopping in two months and my son Roberts like please mom
02:36We have nothing in the house. Well, I always start in the dairy department

02:40There were so many sales because I had a lot of things to get I also picked up a couple
02:44Special creamers for my son Joshua who loves loves loves home alone, and then I had to get some lunch items
02:51I also went to the condiments because I was down to nothing and I picked up a couple of my favorite things

02:58We had to get a second cart because I had a lot of things I needed to get for a weekly meal plans
03:03I haven't been doing good on posting it on my board because life's just been too busy and we have been just winging it for
03:10Dinners. Well now it's time to get serious. I also had to pick up dad some drinks
03:14No one wants to start taking his lunch to school
03:16So we picked up some snacks for that and we always end up with the fruits and veggies
03:19But I didn't eat a lot of veggies because my garden is going so well. I have so many wonderful vegetables
03:25So not only do we have one cart not two carts, but we had three carts this time
03:30Well, we got it loaded into the car. Now. It's time to restock both frigerators the freezer and my food pantry

03:41I'm a big fan of the Cholula hot sauce
03:43So I was super excited to find that they also make a taco seasoning
03:46And so the one I used was a smoky chipotle seasoning amazing
03:50We're after my six pounds of chicken was completely cut through I grabbed my kitchen shears and cut it into chunks
03:55And I did it a buffet style. So I did Spanish rice
03:58I also did some black beans queso, of course the chicken then all of my fixings now
04:04It's time to make my chicken fajita bowl. So I added the chicken and then with the Spanish rice
04:08I also added two jars of my homemade corn black bean salsa to it. So good
04:13I also added black beans and then I added the garden tomatoes
04:18Some cheese the tortilla strips was I really love that was such a great idea
04:22Some lettuce and then I added some sour cream
04:26We didn't have time to make guac because we were so busy that day and then my hot sauce
04:29But I gotta tell you we love these bowls. We've been eating a lot of them and this chicken fajita one. Oh
04:36So good
