Aspiring AFL stars are just one sleep away from their dreams becoming a reality in what's been touted as one of the most open drafts in recent years. Among those hopefuls are Shepparton twins Matt and Jack Whitlock. But while they look alike, it's their different playing styles that could see them land at the same club.

00:00They're similar, but they're not the same.
00:04Meet the Whitlocks.
00:05The talented twins are hoping to become AFL footballers together.
00:10I feel like once you get to know us, we are very different.
00:14If like older brother, younger brother makes any sense, like you know, like those responsibilities
00:18probably a bit more straightforward than Matt.
00:21Matt's probably a bit more easy going.
00:23Both grew up supporting Hawthorne.
00:25Jack is a 200 centimetre forward who can pinch hit in the ruck.
00:29Matt's a 198 centimetre defender who can play forward.
00:33I feel like we're pretty different players.
00:36Like it's not really common.
00:37Most twins are pretty similar, but it's just the way we move.
00:39I feel like he's a bit more traditional and a bit more mobile.
00:42Most clubs have shown interest in the tall targets.
00:45And while they're not calling it twin telepathy, their ability to read each other has formed
00:49part of the pitch.
00:50Playing in the backyard with Matt my whole life, you can kind of tell what he's going
00:54to do, where he is.
00:56You can kind of just sense it.
00:57So like when he's in the back line and I'm leading up or vice versa, I'm kicking to him.
01:02Can you tell what each other's thinking?
01:04No.
01:05No.
01:06Do you hate being asked that question?
01:08Yes.
01:09The Whitlocks are hoping to become the AFL's third set of twins taken in the first round,
01:14joining Harry and Ben McKay and Max and Ben King.
01:17It'll be an anxious wait ahead of the national draft, even for Sam Lawler and Jagger Smith,
01:22who are expected to be taken in the top five.
01:25I think the thing that I'm most nervous about is just the fear of the unknown, really.
01:29Like, I'm not really sure where I'll end up.
01:31Richmond holds the number one pick.
01:33Lawler, a Collingwood fan, models his game around premiership pie Jordan Dugowie.
01:38And fittingly, while wearing the number four, retired Tiger star Dustin Martin.
01:42Two players I've watched, they're big midfielders and can go forward as well.
01:45A Dugowie and Martin mix, it'll be sure to give fans something to watch.
