The late Tun Daim Zainuddin, who passed away a week ago, has been acquitted by the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur.

Judge Azura Alwi made the order of acquittal under Section 254(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, as applied for by the prosecution.

00:08Judge Azura Alwi made the order of acquittal on Wednesday under Section 254, Subsection
00:143 of the Criminal Procedure Code, following an application by Deputy Public Prosecutor
00:20Datuk Wan Shahruddin Wan Ladin for the case to be withdrawn.
00:25She said the court extended its condolences to the family of the deceased.
00:30Azura also allowed the prosecution's request to withdraw an application sought to subject
00:36Dayim to a mental evaluation.
00:39The prosecution had wanted to assess his mental capacity to stand trial.
00:44She also ordered bail to be revoked and the money returned.
00:48On Tuesday, Dayim's widow Topwan Naima Abdul Khalid said it was her late husband's wish
00:53that the pending charge against him to proceed.
00:56She said Dayim had looked forward to his day in court and had no doubt that he would ultimately
01:00be acquitted.
01:02On January 29, Dayim claimed trial over alleged failure to declare his assets.
01:07The former finance minister passed away on November 13 at the age of 86.
