Transcript
00:00I'm hanging out with my friends, The War and Treaty, who never not kill it on an award show carpet,
00:04because you guys look good. How you feeling?
00:05We're doing so good. So good. So good to see you.
00:08Good to see you. And we got to talk about how you guys are always being nominated against people
00:11I know you guys are friends with. So, Dan and Shay, I mean, come on, brothers to Osborne,
00:15vocal duo of the year. How's it feel to be in that category and compete with your comrades like that?
00:20It feels so good. We're going to find a closet to lock all of them in, so they can't get out.
00:24Good idea.
00:25No.
00:26Feels good. Feels good.
00:27And Maddie and Tay, you know, they've been at it for a long time as well.
00:34So, it feels good to learn from these duos, and it feels good to honor the legendary duo.
00:40Brooks and Dunn with their 14 wins. I feel like they'll get number 15 tonight. So, yeah.
00:46And then what I love about you guys' journey is that every time you guys release new music,
00:49it seems like you guys gain a new amount of fans. Like, more and more people keep discovering you guys.
00:53So, how's that feel to keep bringing out new people on the road every time you guys release?
00:57It feels fantastic. I mean, we stay on the road.
01:00And every show, we're just amazed at how it grows and how it's so diverse and how people find you.
01:05You know, you can be very jaded by social media numbers,
01:10but social media numbers don't always translate into ticket sales, you know?
01:14So, it's very interesting to see.
01:16You may not have a lot of people commenting or whatever on your posts,
01:18but a lot of people do come to shows, and some of them pay 10 tickets for other people to come with them.
01:23So, it's fantastic to see the base growing and the fans.
01:26I think we're grateful. We're very grateful.
01:30No one has to pay attention to you. So, just for one or 100, we're grateful.
01:35Y'all be taking people to church, so, you know, they want to come out.
01:37And, you know, I do want to be honest with you guys.
01:39You guys, I'm talking about gaining fans, but you guys did a post recently about sometimes losing followers.
01:43For everything that happened with the election, obviously, you guys supported Kamala.
01:47But then the election didn't go that way, and then you guys were like,
01:49we're going to still be out here and support our friends and everything.
01:51So, how does it feel to kind of have that backlash?
01:54And being, you know, black people in the country scene in a place that probably a lot of Trump supporters are.
01:58I think, yeah, I think this is America.
02:01You know, my mother was an immigrant, and I think that's what freedom is always about.
02:05You have to respect people's views, and you have to respect who people choose,
02:09whatever that is, whether it's love, whether it's politics, whatever the case may be.
02:13And when we are small-minded enough to say, I don't agree with another person,
02:17therefore, I don't want to be around them, then that's also a choice that you make, too.
02:20So, I believe that you got to let people make their own choices,
02:23and there are repercussions for whatever choice you make, you know?
02:26I also want to say, as a son of America, you know, I'm a wounded warrior, I'm a war veteran.
02:32And, you know, I think that I learned something this election.
02:37I learned that the position you have as a service member, as a veteran,
02:43and as a servant to humanity with music is to not split your audience,
02:48but to make sure that you're doing everything you can to help heal your audience as well.
02:53So that's what the attention is on now, and that was the intention of the post,
02:57is to say, you know what, regardless of who's in that chair, I think we all have to remember
03:02that we turn our lights on and off at night, and we owe each other a chance to heal together.
03:11So, you know, that's all it is.
03:13It's a learning curve, and I'm grateful for the lesson.
03:16That's beautiful, man.
03:17It's the time to heal.
03:18Well, I'm going to do you guys a favor.
03:19I'm going to go find Dan and Shay Lockham in the closet.
03:22You guys go out there and have a good fun tonight, okay?
