Ella Langley & Aaron Raitiere caught up with Billboard's Tetris Kelly at the CMA Awards 2024.

00:00So, hanging out at the CMA Awards with two people that got some real good news in the car ride on the way here.

00:05Music event of the year. Congratulations. How you feeling?

00:09Pretty dang good. I mean, I don't know. This is our first award.

00:14Pretty numb to the whole thing.

00:15Yeah, I mean, it's wild. It's just a loss for words.

00:19And the fact that you just got the news. Have you talked to Riley Green yet?

00:22I barely saw him. I was like, you know we won? He was like, I just heard that.

00:26Yeah, I think it's funny they told us before I have to answer all these questions

00:30because my brain is like buffering the past 30 minutes.

00:33You're like, I'm a winner.

00:34And then tell me about putting the song together because I heard like, you know,

00:37you might have started it with someone else and Riley jumped in.

00:39So, how was creating the song and bringing him in?

00:41So, me and Aaron wrote the song originally.

00:43We just wrote it in his living room and it wasn't a duet when we wrote it.

00:48And we decided to cut the song and we did cut it.

00:52And then Riley asked us on tour right after we cut it.

00:56And I was riding around listening to the cut and I was like, dang.

00:59I wonder how it would be like if Riley were to write the second verse

01:03and it would turn it into a duet.

01:04So, I called Aaron and I was like, what do you think about that?

01:06And he was like, I think it's a great idea.

01:07So, I called Riley and I was like, hey, here's the song, here's my idea.

01:11And a couple months later he sent me a second verse and here we are.

01:15Good phone call.

01:16That was a good one.

01:17And I got to tell you about your verse.

01:19You're talking about like walking up to the bar and just confessing your love.

01:22Have you ever actually done something that bold?

01:24Yes.

01:25I'm like, wow, that is confidence.

01:27Yeah, well, confidence or just stupidity, I don't know.

01:31How did it work out for you?

01:33I'm single, if you're wondering.

01:34You know what I mean?

01:35See, listen, but have her confidence and maybe you could be music event of the year one day.

01:40And I just want to ask you guys, Christmas season is around the corner.

01:43What songs are you listening to?

01:44What gets you in the spirit?

01:45Anything Frank Sinatra.

01:47I feel like that's like the Christmas record of Frank Sinatra gets me in the vibe.

01:53Alright.

01:55I just listen to Tool year round.

01:57He said from January 1st to December 31st.
