00:00Joined by world champion gold medalist Grace Brown. Grace, back in your hometown
00:04how does it feel? Yeah it's really nice it's super super fun to come back I was
00:10at the school earlier today and now here at the cycling club and just yeah it's
00:16really nice that everyone's excited about what I've done this year and come
00:19back and yeah joining the celebration is really nice. And a great turnout you must
00:27be must be nice it must what how's it feel like you grew up here you're some
00:31like some of these kids out here how does it feel? Yeah it's really cool like
00:34especially going back to school today and reliving some memories in the
00:39classrooms and and seeing some of my old teachers and yeah sort of nostalgic and
00:47yeah reminds me of the good childhood that I had and it's nice to be back.
00:55That's good and what why is it important I'm sure it is and why is it important
00:58to you to get back and give back to to where you came from? Yeah I think like
01:04the the community's really supported me and cheered me on in my cycling career
01:09and and I think also it's important just to show especially the younger
01:14generation like what's possible even if you're from a small country town we can
01:19see that you know me and Penny Smith have had some success in sport and maybe
01:26there's some young kids now that can dream and go after similar things so I
01:30think that's really cool. There's some talented kids out there we might see a future Grace Brown.
01:34Yeah there's some of the kids out there today were going pretty fast so yeah hopefully they keep at it and maybe we'll see them on the world stage as well in the future.
01:45And did you any I know you didn't you didn't ride here when you were here but
01:49did your dad? Yeah my dad was part of the Camperdown cycling club I was busy
01:54running when I was in Camperdown but yeah definitely our family was part of
02:01the cycling club and my little brother rode around here as well so yeah still
02:07feel connected with it even though I didn't didn't really ride my bike when I
02:10was younger. And any familiar faces anyone come up to the night and told you some
02:15stories or reminisce? Yeah definitely a few familiar faces yeah I mean the town's full of familiar faces so it's nice to come back and reconnect and yeah.
02:29And why do you think like I was going through the list before with the president and stuff
02:33like why do you think there's so many cyclists that have come from here out of
02:36all the places what's in the water? I reckon it's the wind like battling against that wind out there
02:42it makes you pretty pretty strong on a bike but yeah I don't know maybe there
02:48is something in the water. All good thanks for that Grace.
