00:00Hello world, my name is Alin Sano or if not sung it's Alin Sano and I'm an artist from
00:14Kigali, Rwanda.
00:24This is of course my first ever music video where I paid the professionals and everything
00:30like I was so scared to look in the camera.
00:33First of all I didn't even know how to look like how to be in the TV.
00:36I was always wondering how do like how do those people get into the screen.
00:42It's a shame that I had to know when I was already grown but that's my first memory.
00:46So the first time I saw myself in the camera I was like yeah.
00:51The first song is called Naremewewe which translates to I was made for you.
00:56It's a romantic love song.
00:59It goes like.
01:12That's the first memory.
01:19I was performing jazz and blues in bars at night when I was going to school in the morning
01:26at five and then I was going at work to sing in bar piano bars and all at seven I used
01:33to go home at 2 a.m. slept for a few hours and then woke up like I always remember that
01:38because when I was going through it I found it so like it was okay but when I got out
01:45of that I was like I was struggling you know.
01:49So like that's that's the beauty of it.
01:51I hadn't started recording my music but still I started singing because I was doing Ella
01:57Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone and all that.
02:04The Voice Afrique competition in 2019 that's when it started we went to South Africa.
02:10It was my first time to to fly to go in an airplane I was so excited.
02:17I went to another country I met very many other talents oh my god it was crazy like
02:23I never forget that and then that's actually the first time I was introduced to music professionally
02:27because I always used to take music as passion talent and all but I didn't know it can be
02:32a profession something that you can make money out of something that you can prepare something
02:37that an artist is like behind an artist there are like a team of a hundred people taking
02:43care of just one person before going on stage they come and do makeup for you they dress
02:49you they do it I was like oh Kumbia music can be like this.
02:57I went to shoot one of my music videos called Say Less.
03:01It's one of my most successful songs.
03:10Not an international artist yet.
03:12It's a locally successful song but wait for me I'm gonna have very many international
03:21big hits but that one is so far one of the most successful I featured one of the big
03:26biggest artists from Uganda and Burundi so it was so hard for me as an independent artist
03:31it was so hard for me to to link them up like to do a good video a good audio in everything
03:40I had to travel to Uganda by my own car my friend drove me and it was crazy the car
03:47crashed along the way oh my god it was so crazy but when I look at that music video
03:54I'm like yo I'm proud of myself because imagine I was crying the camera guy was like okay stop
04:00crying and then we gotta take the shoot I was like okay okay I'm thinking of you keeps
04:06me up all night and then I finished crying and then I went back and cried again I came
04:11back because of the stress but the music video came out and became successful and then when
04:16I sing it yo I feel so proud of myself and I thank God.
04:24My song called Mama I sang it specifically for my mother and every time I wanted to
04:31write any word about this because my mom raised us like as a single mother like as
04:37Rwandans we have we share that history a lot of Rwandans share that history because of
04:42the history of our country there were a lot of widows and a lot of orphans so I'm one
04:47of the victims of that my mother had to raise up like raise us up five of us like from a
04:55very young age we were also very young and then we had to grow up like that call her
05:00a hero I was like oh you have a father what is a father okay okay okay I thought my mother
05:05was the father in the mother when I started writing that song I couldn't find words I
05:09only cried every time I started I cried but thankfully I finally found the words and then
05:15in the words there is where I say you are the source of my courage and love and thank
05:21you for being for being a hero even on the behalf of my father whenever I listen to that
05:28I get too emotional because the song is no longer general it's specifically dedicated
05:37to every woman who was a mother in the father.
