00:00These are the mountains that I'm about a half an hour's walk away from Ampharos Base Camp.
00:11This area is known as the Kumbu Icefall.
00:17I'll bring this up a bit closer.
00:25There's a little black mountain in the middle there.
00:33Yeah, that one there in the back, that's Mount Everest.
00:37Hasn't got as much snow because it's windy up there, and it's steep.
00:42In the meantime, there's a few rocks falling on the opposite hillside.
00:50And all of these mountains feed, and the snow feeds into a glacier.
00:57Kumbu Glacier, 14km long.
01:06Yeah, normally about 2 o'clock these clouds seem to come over the mountains.
01:16But yeah, we've been lucky today, so I'll get down to the base camp before these clouds come in.
01:22Just left Gokho village this morning.
01:25Climbed about 600m, now we're at about 5400m altitude.
01:33Some really tall mountains here.
01:37That one that's got the head in the clouds, that's Mount Everest, the highest mountain.
01:49Just to the right of that is Mount Nipsey, 7840m.
01:54To the right of that, Mount Lhotse.
01:57And to the right of that is Mount Makalu, which is the 5th highest.
02:07Yeah, quite a few from up here.
02:11I'll just focus in on Mount Everest.
02:17Yeah, so that's Mount Everest on the left, Nipsey in the middle, and Mount Lhotse on the right.
02:24So really high mountains those ones.
02:28And that's Gokho lake where I left this morning.
02:34The village is on the left hand side of the lake.
02:39Yeah, 600m climb, now we're at 5400m altitude.
02:45But yeah, nice day.
