00:00The Foil Cup is a highlight for a lot of young children in Derry.
00:08They look forward to it all year.
00:10It provides them with a platform to perform and to compete against players that they wouldn't
00:15usually get the opportunity to compete against.
00:17There's teams here this week from North America, England, Scotland, Wales, mainland Europe.
00:22So giving children the opportunity to play against different cultures, different styles
00:26is really important in developing a good self-esteem within all the children locally.
00:37Ulster University are pivotal in the development of the Foil Cup.
00:40Long even before the event starts we're using the facilities and then on the day of the
00:44tournament itself, the launch day, we take a parade from here.
00:48We also use the halls of residence, not only in Derry but also in Corain and also we're
00:52using the facilities, the pitches on Don Cregan Road and also the university pitches
00:57in Corain.
00:58It's just fantastic to see how much more of the university are becoming embedded into
01:03the community.
