00:00I had this weird, super rare form of vasculitis that like knocked out my vision and knocked
00:06out my hearing.
00:07Yeah.
00:08And knocked out like all my equilibrium.
00:10On an episode of National Geographic's Running Wild with Bear Grylls The Challenge, Ashton
00:15Kutcher opened up about a medical condition that left him unable to hear, see, or walk.
00:21Vasculitis is a rare autoimmune disorder that comes in various forms, but generally causes
00:25inflammation of the blood vessels.
00:27This inflammation can lead to restricted blood flow, which can potentially cause tissue and
00:31organ damage.
00:32Symptoms of most types of vasculitis include body aches, fatigue, headache, and weight
00:37loss.
00:38It is unknown what exactly causes vasculitis, but can generally be treated with medication
00:42to prevent future flare-ups.
00:44Kutcher has since made a full recovery, but he told Grylls the experience gave him a renewed
00:48perspective on life.
00:50You don't really appreciate it until it's gone.
