00:00The doctor goes, do you understand what's going on right now?
00:02I'm like, no, what is happening?
00:04He said, you're having a baby.
00:13This is Madison Grace.
00:15She is 10 months old and she is the happiest baby ever.
00:19She's my little surprise baby.
00:21I found out 15 minutes before her arrival that I was going to have her.
00:26So that was just a bit of a shock.
00:29I have that picture.
00:30I am about six or seven months pregnant in that picture.
00:45It would have been in February when I got pregnant,
00:48but I didn't have any symptoms or signs, no changes to my body.
00:53I actually lost 30 pounds during my pregnancy.
00:56I didn't have the nausea, the sickness, heartburn.
01:00I did have my period the whole time.
01:02So it really wasn't anything I was even worried about.
01:07I didn't for a second think, oh my God, I'm having a baby.
01:11The day before, so November 6th, I worked a double shift at my serving job at a restaurant
01:29and I came home that night.
01:31I woke up and I started feeling like these very mild cramps.
01:36I thought it was just maybe gas or something.
01:39I had no idea.
01:40It just kept getting more intense.
01:43And I actually called my brother and I said, go downstairs and get mom.
01:48I need help.
01:49As I was going down the stairs, I was at the top and I couldn't walk down the stairs
01:54without fully bending over.
01:57And that's when my mom was like, we need to go into the emergency room.
02:01I thought my appendix had burst.
02:11So when I got there, they admitted me and the doctor came in.
02:23He checked on my stomach.
02:24He pushed down on it.
02:25He said, we're just going to maybe run some tests.
02:28Maybe you have an ovarian cyst or a hernia.
02:31I don't think it's your appendix.
02:34So when I went to go get the ultrasound for the ovarian cyst and the hernia and just the
02:38test, my mom saw something on the screen that looked familiar.
02:41She thought maybe I was pregnant.
02:44Maybe a month or two.
02:45Maybe I'm having a miscarriage because I was bleeding.
02:48And then suddenly it was just the worst pain I felt in the world.
02:52I started screaming.
02:55The doctor came running in.
02:56He's looking at me and I'm crowning.
03:00But the minute she was out, the pain stopped and they put her on me.
03:04That's the moment I realized I had a baby and I kind of just was like, whoa.
03:18I get asked, did you drink beforehand while being pregnant?
03:25The answer to that question is yes, but not as much.
03:30I'm not a huge drinker.
03:33But she turned out fine.
03:33She was completely healthy.
03:35Nothing is wrong with her.
03:36And then the period question.
03:38Did you have your period?
03:39Was it actually your period?
03:41Yeah, it did seem like my period.
03:43It was the full like what five days that you get your period.
03:46I've never had a heavy period.
03:48So it's always been a light period.
03:50My parents helped me a lot.
03:52So even though I didn't really know what I was doing at first, my parents knew what they
03:56were doing because they had three kids.
03:58So they helped me learn how to take care of her and prepare everything.
04:02A bottle, a change of diaper.
04:04They taught me everything.
04:06I honestly think about it as it is what it is.
04:10Like you can't really do anything about it.
04:12I love her the same as I would if I'd known for those nine months.
04:16She honestly is the best thing that's ever happened to me.
04:19I'm such a happy person now.
04:22Not that I wasn't before, but it's just like a different kind of happy that you don't know
04:25until you have a baby.
