00:00In-N-Out Burger has banned employees from wearing masks in five states unless they have a doctor's
00:05note. The news comes from internal company emails leaked on social media which outline new
00:09guidelines for workers in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, and Utah. According to the memo,
00:14the decision is due to quote, the importance of customer service and the ability to show
00:18our associates smiles and other facial features while considering the health and well-being of
00:23all individuals. The policy goes into effect August 14th and employees who do not follow
00:27it could face disciplinary action including termination. California and Oregon locations
00:32also have new guidelines set to go in effect on that day but both states have laws in place to
00:36prevent employers from banning masks. This isn't the first time the burger chain has pushed back
00:40at COVID-19 safety measures. In October 2021, several In-N-Out locations in California faced
00:46fines or were temporarily closed due to refusing to enforce COVID-19 vaccination rules.
